New York State Assemblyman Robert Rodriguez (D-68th District), was Nominated by Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), on Thursday, to become the next New York Secretary-of-State.

Current Secretary-of-State, Rosanna Rosado (D), who had held the Post during most of the Cuomo Administration, will be Nominated to become the Commissioner of the Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Both Appointments are subject to Confirmation in the State Senate.

Hochul also announced she is Recommending the Appointment of Minosca Alcantara, to become Executive Director of the New York State Bridge Authority.

The Nominations and Recommendation come as Hochul is traveling to Puerto Rico later Thursday, to appear at the Somos Conference, a Key gathering of Political and Elected Leaders, as well as Advocates ahead of the 2022 Election Season.

"New York faces critical challenges ahead, and we need strong, experienced leaders who know how to work with local partners and deliver results," Hochul said. "With wide ranging expertise and backgrounds, Robert Rodriquez, Rossana Rosado, and Minosca Alcantara could not be better suited for the positions for which I've recommended them. I look forward to being able to work with these individuals as we recover from the pandemic and move New York forward."

Rodriguez is the latest State Lawmaker to be Nominated for a New Job.

On Wednesday, Assemblyman Nick Perry (D-58th District), was Nominated by President Biden, to become the Ambassador to Jamaica.
