NY Latest Voting Reforms


The New York Legislature, built on the Voting Reforms Passed during the preious Legislature Session, with additional Legislation, to make it easier to Vote and improve the Timing and Accuracy of Infornation about Elections. But, there is more to do.

Among the Reforms Passed this year:

S.264 - Ensuring Voter's Timely Receipt of Absentee Basllots: Sets a Deadline for Absentee Ballot Applications, sent by mail, to 15 days before the Election, up from 7 days, to better allow for timely Receipt of Absentee Bsllots.

S.360 - No-Excuse Absentee Voting Constitutional Amedment: Amends the State Constitution to Allow for any Voter to Vote by Absentee Ballot without an Excuse.

S.1027A - Speeding Up the Absentee Ballot Counting Process: Amends Various Provisions of the Election Law in order to Allow for Expedited Review and Canvassing of Absentee Ballots without compromising the Integrity of Elections.

S.1644 - Protect Nursing and Long-Term Care Facility Residents' Health while Guaranteeing Access to Absentee Ballots: Will ensure that Absentee Ballots can be Delivered to New York Nursing Homes and Long-Term Care Facilities without Board of Elections Inspectors having to Physically enter the Premises.This will help avoid Accidental Exposure to COVID-19 for Residents of these Facilities.
