Allow Federal IG's To Do Their Jobs Without Fear Of Political Retaliation


inspectors General (IG) provide Independent, Nonpartisan Oversight of Federal Programs and Spending, Conducting Investigations, Identifying Problems, and Rooting Out Malfeasance and Waste.

Trump worked Hard to Undermine their Work. They got in the Way of a Corrupt President and Administration.

The House Passed IG Independence and Empowerment Act (H.R. 2662) that would make it Harder for future Presidents to Act with Impunity by Insulating IG's from Unwarranted Removal, Improving their Ability to Conduct Full Investigations, and Ensuring that in the Event of a Vacancy, Temporary Leadership in these Offices is Qualified and Conflict-Free.

Protecting IG's Freedom to do their Job without Fear of Retaliation is Crucial to Maintaining their Effectiveness.

The Comprehensive Reform Package, which aims to Protect IG's from being Fired or otherwise Prevented from doing their Jobs.

Now the Senate must also Vote to Prevent Presidential Abuse of Power by establishing these New Safeguards to Protect IG's.

IG's are Charged with Detecting and Preventing Waste, Fraud, and Abuse, and with Promoting Economy, Efficiency, and Effectiveness, in their Respective Agencies’ Operations.

Their Oversight informs Policy-Making, Saves us Money, and Protects our Constitutional Rights.

In Fiscal year 2020 alone, IG's identified potential Savings of approximately $53 Billion.
