Error Discovered on GA Touchscreens in U.S. Senate Race

The 2020 U.S. Senate Special Election in Georgia will be held on November 3rd, 2020, following Senator Johnny Isakson's Resignation effective December 31st, 2019. Governor Brian Kemp appointed Kelly Loeffler to Serve as Isakson's Replacement, effective January 6th, 2020, until the Special Election.

On November 3rd, 2020, per Georgia Law, a Special General Election will take place on the same day as the Regularly Scheduled U.S. Senate Election for the Seat held by David Perdue. A Primary Election will Not occur, instead, All Candidates, regardless of Party, will be Placed on the Same Ballot.

Party Labels will be Printed on the Ballot and if No Candidate receives more than 50% of the Vote, the Top-Two Finishers will Advance to a Runoff Election, to be held on January 5th, 2021.

Georgia Election Officials, said Saturday Sept. 26th, they found a Programming Rrror on the State’s Voting Touchscreens that caused a Row of Candidates in the 21-Person U.S. Senate Special Election to Disappear at times when a Voter Fliped Back and Forth between Screens.

The Problem will require Reprogramming the State’s 30,000 New Touchscreens, called Ballot-Marking Devices (BMD), about Two Weeks before In-Person Early Voting begins Oct. 12th.

The U.S. Senate Special Election includes: Republican U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler and U.S. Rep. Doug Collins, along with Democrats Raphael Warnock, Matt Lieberman, and Ed Tarver.

To fit so many Candidates on One Screen, Election Officials had to Divide the Race into Two Columns, said Deputy Secretary of State, Jordan Fuchs.

She said that kind of Ballot Format isn’t Standard, but it was Easier for Voters, and Election Officials wanted to ensure All Candidates appeared Together.

But the main Problem with this BMD is the Ballot Scanner will only Scan a Machine created Bar-Code to Tally the Votes. So the Voter has No Way of knowing if their Selections are what will be Counted.
