On the evening of Thursday, July 9th, a Texas State Trial Court Refused to Order the City of Houston to Allow the Republican Party to hold an In-Person State Convention in Houston.

Houston First Corp., the City Nonprofit that Manages the Convention Site, was told to Cancel the Event over Concerns about the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Convention is supposed to start on Thursday, July 16th.

The Party is Appealing to the Texas Supreme Court, with the Case set for Monday, July, 13th.

The Texas Attorney General sided With City of Houston, and against the State Republican Party.

In a Brief filed Saturday, July, 11th, with the Supreme Court, Solicitor General Kyle Hawkins, the State’s Top Appellate Lawyer, said that despite the Party’s “troubling factual allegations,” the Court should Deny its Petition for Failing to “properly invoke (the court’s) mandamus authority.”
