14th Air Force Re-Designated as Space Operations Command




Air Force Secretary, Barbara Barrett, Re-Designated the 14th Air Force as Space Operations Command (SPOC) following the Dec. 20th establishment of U.S. Space Force as the Sixth Military Service.

Airmen that were assigned to the Numbered Air Force, which was previously responsible for the Organization, Training, Equipping, Command, and Control, and Employment of USAF Space Forces, are now assigned to SPOC.

The New Command, whose Re-Designation also went into effect on Dec. 20th, “directly supports the US Space Force’s mission to protect the interests of the United States in space; deter aggression in, from, and to space; and conduct space operations,” according to a Dec. 30th USAF Release.

Maj. Gen. John E. Shaw, former 14th Air Force Commander, was named Commander of SPOC.

Vandenberg AFB hosted its First "Five Eyes" level Briefing last week and Authorized its First Collaborative Task Order with a Representative of Allied Countries.

Group Capt. Darren Whiteley of the a Royal Air Force Signed the First Combined Tasking Order for Space Force Command Units.

"Five Eyes" is a Military Term referring to Intelligence Sharing and Collaboration between: Australia, Canada, Britain, the U.S., and New Zealand.
