Trump Lawyer Demands Notice if Dems Seek President's NY Tax Returns

A Lawyer for President Trump is asking a Federal Judge to Require House Democrats to Alert him if they Intend to take Advantage of a New York Law that gives them Access to the President’s State Tax Filings.

William Consovoy wants Judge Carl Nichols to Order either House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal (D-MA, 1st District) or Officials Representing New York State Tax Department to give him at least Two Weeks Notice of any Request.

Consovoy still wants to Challenge the Legality of such a Request, and says he’s concerned the Issue could become Moot if Neal receives the Filings before Consovoy has an Opportunity to Act.

Trump is “seeking notice and a window for judicial review that allows him to challenge the legality” of the request, Consovoy said in a Court Filing.

The Request comes after Nichols earlier this week Ruled his Washington, D.C., Court doesn’t have Jurisdiction over the New York Officials who would Administer the Law. Nichols suggested Trump Refile the Case in New York.

Consovoy argues that shouldn’t matter, saying Nichols can still Order New York or Neal to give him a Head’s Up.

Neal has Demonstrated Little Interest in the New York law, though Consovoy is concerned the Massachusetts Democrat could change his mind and get Trump’s Filings Without Prior Notice.
