On Monday, the Supreme Court gave Republican Gerrymandering a Major Victory when it Reversed a Lower Court Ruling that had Struck Down Texas’ GOP-Drawn Congressional Map for Intentionally Discriminating against Black and Latino Voters.

The High Court’s Ruling Overturned the Lower Court’s decision in every affected Congressional District and all but One of the Challenged State House District, giving the Republican Defendants an almost Total Win and further undermining the Protections of the Voting Rights Act.

The Decision is lengthy.

Texas could have Drawn Three more Congressional Districts for Latinos, and this Gerrymander likely cost Democrats Five Districts in 2016, making it one of the most Extreme and Important Republican Gerrymanders Nationally.

Consequently, this Ruling could make it much harder for Plaintiffs to Challenge Republican-Drawn Maps that Discriminate against People of Color in other States in years to come.

The 5-4 Decision with Judge Neil Gorsuch as the Deciding Vote.
