If your next vacation is in Melaka, then this mesmerising haven, nested in the vibrant city of Melaka, should undoubtedly be on your checklist. A splendid hotel stay truly enhances the entire vacation experience, and it’s no exaggeration to say that Holiday Inn Melaka ticks every box in terms of stunning accommodations which will pamper you to the max. My wife, Jordan boy, Jasmine girl and I really had a great time staying in this hotel.

We were absolutely awe-struck by the sheer magnificence of this extraordinary 5-star hotel. There was simply too much opulence and elegance that we could see at every turn during our staycation. As you venture inside, be prepared to have your breath completely taken away as you find yourself immersed in a captivating world where contemporary chic seamlessly merges with timeless grandeur. I personally love the art pieces that have adorned almost every corner of the hotel.  I can't help but feels it is like an art gallery during our staycation.

We were totally enveloped in an atmosphere that was nothing short of pure luxury. Our stay at Holiday Inn Melaka was truly an experience that left an indelible mark in our memory. In fact, right opposite Holiday Inn Melaka (100 metres away), there are 3 huge shopping malls (Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan) for your shopping sprees, cinemas, a bowling alley and countless eateries to gratify your hunger pangs.

We just had to hop into a car and within a brisk five-minute ride, you will be witnessing one of Southeast Asia’s oldest European architectural marvels – the A Famosa Fort as well as St. Paul’s Church.

A stone’s throw away from the hotel is captivating attractions waiting to be explored, like the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum, and Jonker Walk Night Market which are just 7 minutes away. Besides its strategic location, Holiday Inn Melaka boasts mind-blowing scenery that captures the magic of both traditional and modern Malaysia. My family and I were immediately captivated by the breathtaking views of the Straits of Melaka right from our hotel window.

For the uninitiated (I also just found out about this recently 😂), Holiday Inn Melaka is actually a part of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Hence, you will know that IHG Hotels are globally renowned for their premium hospitality services. It is no surprise that Holiday Inn Melaka redefines luxury in hospitality with its 275 refined rooms and suites that leave guests including me and my family astounded. You’ll find yourself reluctant to check out once you step into this 5-star hotel!

As soon as we set foot on the grounds of Sheraton Petaling Jaya, a friendly potter immediately assisted us with our bags and guided us to the reception. From our very first steps inside, it was evident that we were in for a luxurious treat! As aforementioned, the design of the hotel seemed to effortlessly blend modern and classic traditional aesthetics. Every corner of the hotel exuded an air of grandeur and magnificence. The decor wasn’t just visually stunning but the staff, particularly at reception, were exceptionally welcoming and forward-thinking. Check-in was a breeze and in no time we were heading towards our hotel room.

Upon receiving our room keys, we joyfully dashed to our luxurious Executive Club Room. Jordan boy and Jasmine girl were delightfully pulling their own Trunki Luggage, filled with the anticipation of the fantastic experience that awaited us. As we opened the door, we were welcomed by the magnificent interior design. Everything matched the opulence seen in the concierge area. We promptly settled in and started to soak up the indulgent atmosphere that instantly made us feel relaxed and contented. I must confess, Holiday Inn Melaka has surpassed itself to ensure that our stay would be not only enjoyable but tremendously relaxing as well.

I couldn’t help but share in the contagious excitement of Jordan and Jasmine as they prepared for their bath. Their anticipation was palpable, and who can blame them? Both of them were absolutely thrilled about trying out the latest luxurious bath in Holiday Inn Melaka. Surprisingly, we got to enjoy lavish Dove's shampoo, body wash, body lotion (yes!) and even handwash. Usually, hotels will not provide such branded toiletries. So, this was a first for us.

Imagine the luxury - It’s not an everyday experience to immerse oneself in a swanky bathtub where you can enjoy your bubble bath, right? The bathroom was just grand with its vast space accommodating both a bathtub and a separate shower area! And yes, it’s that enormous. They even added a thoughtful touch for the ladies - a magnifying mirror; every woman’s best friend, no? 😂

After our refreshing shower or bath (depending on which one we took), we promptly “plunged into” our enormous beds. There’s nothing quite like the comfort of sprawling out on an oversized, cuddly bed that can cradle you to sleep in no time. Though our Executive Club Room only had one queen size bed and a single bed, we requested an extra bed which the hotel quickly fulfilled for us in no time. Even with the extra bed rolled in, we still had ample space in the room.

Deep Relaxing Sleep

They say a good night's sleep is important and that is what you will get when you stay in Holiday Inn Melaka. We were totally pampered by the luxurious mattresses, crisp linens, cosy duvets, and an abundance of soft pillows that made leaving the beds feel like a crime! The whole family agreed - it was pure luxury! From the plush mattress that cradled us into dreamland. Waking up refreshed and rejuvenated from our deep sleep was such a rewarding experience.

I must applaud the creative minds behind Holiday Inn Melaka's interior design that have truly outdone themselves! Every bedroom is a world of awe-inspiring wonder! The tranquil mattress, the snug armchair sofa; it’s an all-in-one package. Also included is a generous workstation complete with a grand wooden table catering to those who need to tick off items from their worklist before continuing their vacation. But that’s not all - a compact fridge awaits you, ready to be stocked with your choice of refreshments and nibbles!

What You Can Do in Holiday Inn Melaka

Besides our luxurious room stay, what truly made our hearts flutter was their breakfast buffet followed by their afternoon tea and dinner spreads. Each meal was a culinary journey where East meets West. Imagine starting your day with warm Nasi Lemak before switching to fluffy pancakes drizzled with honey! Each dish we tasted seemed to outshine the last – flavoursome, fresh, and undoubtedly fulfilling.

When we weren’t stuffing ourselves with food or lounging in our room, you’d probably find us at one particular spot –yes, you guessed it right- their infinity pool! Overlooking the straits of Melaka, this wet haven became our favourite place to unwind and frolic away under clear blue skies.

Even though it’s a holiday and calories don’t count (right?), we didn’t let ourselves go completely astray. Their well-equipped gym caught our attention too. With panoramic views tempting us through wall-sized windows, as we worked up a sweat on treadmills or lifted weights, fitness never felt so enjoyable before.

Balinese-inspired Tea Tree Spa Massage

Besides lifting weights and running on treadmills, I got to experience the famous Balinese-inspired Tea Tree Spa massage offered by Holiday Inn Melaka. Stepping into the realm of tranquillity, I found myself at the cusp of an extraordinarily pampering experience at the Balinese-inspired Tea Tree Spa. The anticipation was stirring as I surrendered my weary feet to an expert masseur for a foot massage that promised to cast away all my fatigue.

To wrap it up, I must say that our hotel room at Holiday Inn Melaka stands out as one of the most unforgettable my family and I have had the pleasure to stay in all these years. My wife was simply overjoyed with this serene sanctuary we found ourselves in, while our children couldn’t get enough of the fun they had, especially when it came to splashing around in the infinity pool as well as their bathtub.
