Every year, Namewee will be releasing a special Chinese New Year song by using the respective animal zodiac as the theme for his songs. He is notorious for the songs he has composed which can be quite radical at times, and this year's edition of Chinese New Year song is no different. Then again, I must admit that "I Am a Cow" is a very adorable and catchy Chinese New Year song from this Malaysian genius this year.

You really need to listen to this song as it is irresistibly cute thanks to the choir of little singers who breathed life into the song. The kids were wearing cow costumes to match the song and I love the look on their faces-innocent and dainty. Interestingly, Namewee himself was not directly involved in any of the singing parts save for some "mooing". Full points are given to the highly "Cow" puppet which has that uncanny resemblance to Namewee. Perhaps this Cow-man is one of the reasons why the song is so enjoyable. 😂

Basically "I Am a Cow" is unlike any of your usual Chinese New Year songs. Instead of talking about the festival, the song revolves around cows and how they have to suffer to fulfil human's incessant demands. The song depicts the hardships that a cow has to endure from being used for branded, opulent handbags to being ended up in a hot pot during Chinese New Year. There's even one part of the lyrics asking you how you would like your steak cooked. It's like the song is trying to let us know the plight that these herbivores are enduring albeit in a funny way.
