If you are in
Penang, then you really need to pay Entopia a visit.
Entopia Penang is arguably one of the most highly recommended places for you and you family to be. During our latest visit to the island, we made sure that we will not miss this awesome attraction. We arrived quite early at 9:00a.m. to ensure that we would be the first ones to step into this wonder of Penang. Yupe! Entopia Penang is not just another normal tourist attraction, but a learning hub that will let young and old acquire valuable knowledge and experience. There are literally so much to see and learn while you are in Entopia.

The moment we arrived at Entopia, we were astounded by its enormous scale and size. For the record, we spent around 3 hours in Entopia and it was definitely time well spent especially for our kids. Brought to you by Penang Butterfly Farm, you will be mistaken if you think that Entopia is merely just another run-of-the-mill butterfly farm. In fact Entopia Penang is not just a sanctuary for butterflies, but also a paradise for various insects, arachnids and reptiles just to name a few.

Welcome to Entopia Penang

Do note that Entopia Penang consists of 2 different worlds! Wait! What? Yes, in Entopia visitors will have the opportunity to visit The Natureland (living outdoor gardens) and the The Cocoon (indoor discovery center). That was why I have mentioned that family and I spent around 3 hours immersing ourselves within the wonders of nature. Do you know that there are more than 150 species of fauna and at least 200 species of flora residing in Entopia? Yes, I guess you could say that it is one of nature's largest classrooms and discovery hubs that you could stumble upon in Penang.
The Natureland of Entopia Penang
The moment we stepped into Entopia, we were already dumbfounded by how enormous this living garden vivarium is. Being the biggest butterfly garden in Malaysia, you will be surrounded by an astounding 15,000 free-flying butterflies at any one time. Made of up to 60 different species, these butterflies fluttered gracefully in the air, inviting us to join them in their whimsical dance. It was truly a magnificent sight to see so many butterflies flapping their colourful wings and land from one flower to the other.
This recreated natural habitat is not just just a for the winged insects, but also home to many other invertebrates and reptiles. You would be able to see a lot of rare creatures that you would normally only be able to learn from your books or TV shows. From the tiny frogs to the supposedly vicious snapping alligator turtles, you will be amazed to get up close with nature's creation. Apart from that, Jordan and Jasmine were very thrilled to see the alien-like horseshoe crabs and the majestic iguanas which were "sunbathing" or lamp-bathing. LOL 😂 Of course one of the most iconic landmark in the Natureland of Entopia Penang has got to be the majestic Home Tree which looked like something from Avatar if you ask me.

Celebrate Vita Nova With The Release of Butterflies
We also saw a pair of beautiful mandarin ducks happily eating their food in their equally eye-catching enclosure. All of our encounters were made even more beautiful thanks to the 200 species of plants that decked around the serene waterfalls, ponds and caves. At around 12p.m. noon at the main entrance we got to celebrate 'Vita Nova' (New Life) by releasing newly-emerged butterflies. Honestly speaking this activity was really magical in a sense that we got to witness with our very own eyes the very first flight of the butterflies. It was like we helped them to turn into beautiful butterflies as they spread their wings and took to the skies. This would certainly be an unforgettable moment for you in Entopia Penang.

Join the Butterfly Race
Besides releasing your very own butterflies, you can also join the Butterfly Race to "hunt down" butterflies. Don't worry as no butterflies will be hurt in the process. No nets will be used in our hunt but instead we will be using our cameras to snap photos of these butterflies. Taking place in David's Garden, we strolled in the garden to identify and snap photos of 6 different butterflies. After that all you need to do is show the photos to the person-in-charge to win a limited edition gift. We won a beautiful postcard after we had successfully "captured" photos of 6 designated butterflies. It was quite a race as we needed to peel our eyes a little bit to search for the elusive butterflies.

The Cocoon-A Whole New World
Just when we thought that our breathtaking journey had come to an end, we were pleasantly surprised to discover a whole new world-The Cocoon. Yupe! The Cocoon is an indoor exhibition in Entopia Penang that allows you to discover even more wonders of the world. It features 2 floors of learning exhibition and indoor activities that will surely be an eye-opener for you. Besides Jordan and Jasmine, both my wife and I also learnt a lot of from this indoor discovery centre. Designed to let you explore the world of the invertebrates, rest assured that the various interactive educational stations will be a boon for children and adults alike.

If you ask me, we had really learnt a lot from The Cocoon. The whole place was brimming with knowledge and fun activities. It is a state-of-the-art learning centre whereby you could acquire tonnes of in-depth details about butterflies and silkworms just to name a few. You will be blown away by the attractions inside The Cocoon itself such as the informative Metamorphosis, the dazzling Lumino City, the mysterious Pandora Forest and the fun-filled Downtown City.
