Families are scared that a killer may be on the loose when a young guy goes missing in a suburban area.
Despite the parents’ best efforts to keep their kids safe, the youngsters have their own plans and secrets.
The Polish film Hold Tight has a 6.2/10 Imdb rating and suffers from illogical plot lines and clichés about the secrets we hold from our relatives.
Just One Look (2017)
This Coben story centers on a second missing individual.
Eva is desperately looking for her spouse after he mysteriously disappears when she discovers a snapshot of a McGuffin.
Despite a solid beginning, this French version scores 6.3/10 on IMDb and its later episodes devolve into improbability.
Gone for Good (2021)
This film has a 6.3/10 IMDb rating, which places it quite low on our list.
This French adaption is set in Nice, and the action scenes are passable. As a result, it succeeds in terms of setting and action, but it feels a bit forced. The main cast isn’t really likeable, there are several confused flashbacks, and there are many of Coben’s signature tropes.
The Woods (2020)
Here is a Polish entry that continues the tale of Pawel Kopcinski, who lost his sister in a tragic incident that happened at a summer camp in the woods twenty years ago and involved four missing children.
Two were killed, and two went missing, but when one of the victims turns up again, the inquiry may finally come to a satisfying conclusion.
The Woods benefits from a superb cast, but the time jumps can be distracting, and if you’re not paying attention, you might miss some of the finer points of the plot.
This received a 6.6/10 on IMDb.
Stay Close (2021)
This mystery, which centers on the lives of three characters, reveals more Coben clichés than you can shake a stick at. The protagonists are living their best lives while keeping awful secrets from one other.
The appearance of a buddy from Megan’s past who has knowledge that will complicate things for all three of the leads has an influence on working mother Megan, down-on-his-luck documentary photographer Ray, and compulsive Detective Broome in Stay Close.
IMDb gives this unique mystery, which revels in its strange characters and eccentric conceits, a 6.9/10 grade.
No Second Chance (2015)
A horrifying incident results in a doctor named Alice being shot, her husband being killed, and her young baby being taken hostage.
She turns vigilante to find the killers and kidnappers on her own because the police are no assistance and occasionally appear to assume she was behind the occurrences.
This is rated 7.1/10 on IMDb, and with good reason.
Safe (2018)
The idea of this thriller, which you would recognize as a Coben novel even if you weren’t aware it was one, involves a missing daughter and a search that unveils some sinister secrets from the past.
Safe, a classic thriller with a 7.2/10 IMDb rating, hits all the bases.
The Stranger (2020)
This play is based on even more scandals, secrets, and hidden realities, and it follows Adam as his ideal existence is upended by a stranger who approaches him in a pub and tells him some unpleasant facts about his wife.
By the series’ conclusion, everything feels a little anti-climatic and awkward because the intrigue from the series’ early episodes gradually fades away.
The Strangerat received an excellent IMDb rating of 7.3/10, though.
The Five (2016)
Jesse was five years old when he vanished, but two decades later, his DNA was discovered at a crime scene, launching this mystery series.
Although IMDb gives this a score of 7.5/10, the idea that five friends, including Jesse’s brother, would come together to solve the mystery seems to have been lifted from Stephen King.
This UK production appears undercooked, with some strange needle dips, annoying sound mixing, and a cast that lacks depth.
The Innocent (2021)
After serving four years in jail, Mateo gets released and begins a new life with Olivia.
In typical Coben form, a phone call jeopardizes their newfound union and threatens to sentence Mateo to life in prison.
This Spanish translation embraces the darker aspects of human nature and contains several unsettling sequences that seem out of place in Coben’s earlier translations. However, it has a compelling story and a satisfying ending, and IMDb gives it a 7.8/10 rating, which places it at the top of our list.
