Susie is defended by Midge, who claims that by helping Alfie get this job, she essentially saved his life. Alfie gets on the plane without incident.

At the airport, Midge then runs into her parents before spotting Lenny Bruce. He will be performing on the West Coast. The two had a history together, so it’s clear that things are still awkward.
