Perry Mason Season 2 Episode 4 Recap – Who hired the Gallardo brothers?

This recap of Perry Mason Season 2 Episode 4, Chapter 12 , contains spoilers.

The name Perry Mason is often associated with the concept of justice. He stands up for the oppressed, defends the falsely accused, and battles a corrupt, biased system.

What happens if Perry’s clients are found guilty is a question in Chapter 12. And he doesn’t have an immediate response to it.

Perry Mason Season 2 Episode 4 Recap

Paul discovered quite conclusive evidence that the Gallardo brothers were guilty last week in Episode 3. He then takes the news to Perry after worrying over it for a time and considering whether or not to just throw away the evidence and act as though he never found it.

Who killed Brooks McCutcheon?

Naturally, the news puts him into a tailspin. Perry uses unfairness as fuel. His interest in the case and his commitment to it up to this point have been premised on the Gallardos’ innocence. He assumed that they had been mistreated, ignored, abused, and used as a scapegoat due to their color. Nonetheless, they are guilty. When presented with the proof, they admit it themselves. Brooks McCutcheon was shot and killed by the Gallardo brothers.

What should a guy do?

Will Perry and Miss Aimes end up together?

Della tries to remind Perry that since he agreed to represent them, he had better get started as they are still entitled to a legal defense whether they are guilty or not. In response, Perry acts in an incredibly selfish manner, snatching Lydell McCutcheon’s prize thoroughbred while intoxicated and joyriding it until it buck him off. The following day, upon picking Teddy up from school, he has little patience for another father who calls him Maggot Mason because of his bad attitude and likely hangover, so in full face of the charming Miss Aimes, he socks the man in the mouth.

Since we’re here, let’s talk about Miss Aimes. She first appeared in the episode when Perry and Teddy were horseback riding, as she works the stables on Saturdays for additional cash. We find out she divorced years ago but maintained the name. She shows up at Perry’s apartment in the middle of the night following the entire schoolyard punching event, so there is certainly a connection between the two.

I’m not sure what it is with Perry. On the outside, he appears tough, is still recovering from a variety of traumas, isn’t always the most attentive or responsible father, and is unable to control his emotions. He may not fit the stereotype of a demure lady, but at least he is committed to his beliefs.

Perry and Miss Aimes seem to be developing a strong romantic relationship.

Perry Mason Season 2 Episode 4 Ending Explained

Nonetheless, as Chapter Twelve goes on, the question of who killed Brooks McCutcheon recedes in favor of the question of why.

Whatever Paulis salary may be, it is insufficient. He continues to dig into the shooting, particularly why and how the Gallardos would have carried it out, after finding the evidence last week and being extremely upset about disclosing its implications this week.

He then pays off the gun dealer who originally sold the Gallardo family the weapon, admitting that they were renting it out daily for their pricey pastime of target practice. It seems sense that the Gallardos were paid to kill Brooks, were given funding for their training, and have been allowed to take the fall because Brooks’ murder required a couple of fall guys who were also capable marksmen.

Who hired the Gallardo brothers?

As Mateo’s wife Sofia utilizes one of Rafael’s prison sketches to show a sizable amount of cash in the closing scene, this theory is all but proven.

The brothers were therefore well-off financially, had practiced the murder beforehand, and were thus prime targets for a straightforward conviction. Who however paid them? Was it Lydell who had become tired of Brooks making a fool of himself? Was it retaliation for what Noreen Lawson underwent? That, in my opinion, is probably the most plausible explanation, although there is undoubtedly much more to this story.

What role does Camilla Nygaard play in this? What’s on board the McCutcheon freight vessels that were purportedly transporting vegetables that California already has an abundance of? There is undoubtedly much more to be revealed in this situation, and it appears that the Gallardo brothers’ case is only getting started.
