Why did ‘Bem Mergera’ Declared Himself Dead After Covid-19?

“Bam” Margera, Brandon Cole (born September 28, 1979) is an American actor, stunt performer, former professional skateboarder, and filmmaker. As a star of the MTV reality stunt program Jackass and its follow-ups, he became well-known in the early 2000s. Along with writing and directing the films Haggard and Minghags, he also created the Jackass spin-off series Viva La Bam, Bam’s Unholy Union, Bam’s World Domination, and Bam’s Bad Ass Game Show.

He was Declared Dead, According to Bam Margera

Former professional skater and well-known Jackass prankster Bam Margera claims that in December when his life was in danger due to COVID and a string of seizures, he was declared dead. On the most recent episode of the Steve-Wild O’s Ride podcast, the Viva La Bam actor discussed his near-death experience with former Jackass colleague Steve-O. Surprisingly, no crazy pranks or risky actions were performed.

During the January 5 show, Margera revealed to Steve-O, “I did not realize that I had nasty COVID and my body was shutting down. Basically, I was pronounced dead on December 8.”

The former MTV personality, 43, continued by describing how he experienced a series of five seizures, each of which lasted “10 to 20 minutes.”

I chewed my tongue so hard on the fourth one that it almost fell out,” Margera added. “It grew so bloated and puffy that it was too big to put in my mouth. I contracted pneumonia because I drank the contaminated blood.” Margera most likely implies he aspirated the blood from his tongue, aggravating the pneumonia developing from a COVID infection he was unaware he had. After being taken to the hospital, he had his fifth seizure, during which time he was intubated.

Bam told Steve-O, “I thought I was there for just a few hours when I woke up five days later. Eight days were spent there by me.

When Ryan Dunn, Margera’s co-star and boyhood friend, passed away, Steve-O remembers worrying that Margera wouldn’t survive and that the intubation would be the last act of a downhill spiral. Early on June 20, 2011, a horrific, high-speed vehicle crash claimed the lives of Dunn and another passenger. Dunn’s death, according to Margera and many who knew him, marked the start of a difficult time in the skater’s life during which he gained weight, developed an alcohol addiction, and was finally fired from the Jackass Forever cast for violating a “health provision” in his contract.

This led to conflict at the time between Margera and his co-stars, Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville, who were also close friends of Margera’s for a long time. Since the sobriety agreement wasn’t formally broken, Margera even filed a lawsuit against his termination in August 2022. (Margera had been fired for taking Adderall, a substance which he had been legally prescribed for a decade).

The lawsuit was ultimately settled, so it seems like all of that is now history. The rest of the show includes the two buddies talking fondly about all the times Steve-O visited Margera in the different treatment facilities he’s been in. Additionally, Margera’s current objective of rejoining his board was discussed. Margera has recently spent time abroad (mostly in Barcelona), visiting friends, sobriety, and relearning to skate. In a 2017 episode of the Epicly Later series that was recently posted to YouTube, Vice captured his endeavors.

Careers In television and Cinema & Other Projects

Margera started filming himself and his buddies performing tricks and skating, which eventually evolved into the CKY video series. He independently published CKY. Additionally, CKY2K, CKY3, and CKY4 have been made available. His brother Jess Margera’s band, CKY, which was given the moniker as an homage to the movie Sleepaway Camp, shares the acronym CKY, which stands for “Camp Kill Yourself.”

Many of Margera’s buddies, including Ryan Dunn, Brandon DiCamillo, Rake Yohn, Chris Raab, and Brandon Novak, who together make up the loose collective known as the CKY crew, may be seen in these early recordings. The band’s video and music project are closely related.
