Blue Man Group In Las Vegas: What to Expect at The Show?

Blue Man Group is an American performance art group that started in 1987. In July 2017, the Canadian company Cirque du Soleil bought it. Blue Man Group is known for its stage shows, which include both well-known and less-known types of music and art. Its performers, who are called “Blue Men,” have blue paint on their skin. During shows, they don’t say anything and always come out in groups of three.

The company has shown that run all the time in Berlin, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, and New York City. In a typical production, seven to nine full-time Blue Men are hired after going through an audition process. In addition to their stage shows, Blue Man Group has toured nationally and internationally, appeared on TV shows as characters and performers, made a number of studio albums, contributed to the scores of a number of movies, and played with orchestras all over the United States.

History of Blue Man Group

Blue Man Group started when three close friends, Chris Wink, Matt Goldman, and Phil Stanton, worked together in 1987 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The first time it was seen in public was at a party to mark the end of the 1980s. The three of them wore blue masks and led a street parade in which a Rambo doll and a piece of the Berlin Wall were burned.

Kurt Loder of MTV wrote about the event, which brought attention to the group. What started out as creative “disturbances” on the streets of the city turned into a series of small shows in downtown clubs and then, in 1991, a full performance at the Astor Place Theatre.

Blue Man Group Las Vegas’ Backstage

We recently returned from a long weekend in Vegas, where we enjoyed seeing friends and going back to our old haunts (does it count if we lived there for a year?). We also had the chance to have a first look at the Luxor Hotel & Casino.

There are shops, shows, a lot of restaurants, and of course gambling all inside Luxor. They even have family-friendly things to do like Bodies: The Exhibition and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. A couple of our friends who live in Vegas came to see us and to celebrate Cinco de Mayo weekend, we got tacos at Tacos & Tequilas.

The Blue Man Group show was the best part of the trip. Even though we’ve both seen it twice, it’s still one of our favorites. They always add something new to it. If you’ve never been to a Blue Man Group show, you should know that it has great music, funny jokes, great visuals, and a lot of audience participation. It takes a lot of effort not to smile stupidly while watching the show.

We went on the Behind the Blue tour before the show so we could see what goes on behind the scenes and even play some of the instruments. I got really excited when I heard about all the little things that happen backstage, and you even get to watch a live sound check and see them before they become Blue Men.
