Where Was the Hallmark “a Royal Winter” Film Made? Some Places You Can Visit Currently

In the Hallmark Channel movie A Royal Winter, starring Merritt Patterson, the main character is an American woman named Maggie. She goes to Europe with a friend while thinking about a change in her career. She meets a handsome local named Adrian (Jack Donnelly), who turns out to be a prince about to be crowned King. At first, Adrian’s mother doesn’t like the relationship.

A Royal Winter was filmed in Bucharest, Romania, including at Sighisoara, a medieval citadel from the 12th century that is still inhabited.

The walled old town, which is 850 years old and shows the history and culture of the Transylvanian Saxons, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.

In July, Sighisoara has a Medieval Festival where local music and arts and crafts are shown.

Christmas at Graceland is a sweet story about a working mother who takes her family to Memphis before Christmas and meets up with an old flame she hasn’t seen in years.

This sweet movie was actually shot at Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, though it was in the summer. (Don’t be fooled by the fake snow!) Commercial Appeal says that some of the scenes also took place at Beale Street Landing and the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.

Merry Christmas and Mistletoe Kisses is a love story about a woman who is hired by a businessman to decorate his huge estate for the holidays. As expected, she finds more than just a job opportunity in his house.

In reality, that big, fancy house is near Marietta, Georgia. Some scenes were also shot nearby in Monroe and Atlanta.

Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada

Even though Hallmark’s Christmas in Evergreen movies are set in Vermont, most of them were shot in Burnaby, British Columbia, with Langley and Vancouver serving as secondary filming locations. How’s that for magic at Christmas?

Wilmington, North Carolina

In the movie Christmas in Conway, a man tries to make his marriage more romantic by giving his wife the perfect Christmas gift: a ferris wheel in her own backyard. (That is, the same place where he asked her to marry him years ago!)

This Hallmark Christmas classic was shot in Wilmington, North Carolina, and the surrounding area. USS Christmas, a more recent Hallmark movie, was also filmed in the area.

Chester, Vermont

The story of Moonlight & Mistletoe is about a young woman who goes home for the holidays and finds that her father’s business is going bankrupt. Can she save the legacy of her family and find love in the same season?

In this Hallmark Christmas movie, Chester, Vermont plays the part of the made-up town of Santaville. The small town is in the southern part of the state, and its downtown area is charming and perfect for a movie set like this one.

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

In The Christmas House, two grown sons come home for the holidays to help their parents get through some hard times.

Vancouver, British Columbia, was the place where this new Hallmark movie was shot. Vancouver is where many Hallmark Christmas movies are shot. A Glenbrooke Christmas and Jingle Bell Bride were also filmed there.

Mapleton, Utah

In the story “A Christmas Wish,” a woman’s husband leaves her right before Christmas. She takes her kids on a cross-country road trip to start a new life with them. Along the way, she finds love.

This Hallmark Christmas movie is set in a made-up small town that is really Mapleton, Utah, a mountain town in the north of the state. For once, the snow in the movie is real. Deseret News says that it snowed while the movie was being made.

Squamish, British Columbia, Canada

Christmas Cookies is about a cynical marketing executive whose faith in Christmas is restored by a happy small-town factory owner who is getting in the way of her business goals. (It’s an age-old story!)

This Hallmark original was mostly shot in Squamish, British Columbia, which is also where Virgin River is shot.

Dahlonega, Georgia

In Christmas in Homestead, you will learn all about the town of Homestead, Iowa, which is crazy about Christmas. But this Hallmark Christmas movie wasn’t shot anywhere near Iowa. Most of the scenes were actually filmed in Dahlonega, Georgia, a small town known for its great wines and views of the mountains.
