Laura Ingraham - "Handling". (8-10-5)

Laura Ingraham (GASP!) Criticized President Bush on Wednesday...saying he didn't do a good enough job "selling" the success of the U-S economy. My take...

---

Laura-

On Wednesday’s show you criticized President Bush for his lack of enthusiasm at Tuesday's press conference. You seemed to be saying that his handlers hadn't "handled it right" - that he wasn't "putting out the right vibe" - that he wasn't "selling it" well enough.

First of all, it's really quite sad that the "leader of the free world" is led around by his nose...being "handled" by men and women who’ve learned to ply their trade on Madison Avenue. And that the "image he portrays" isn't necessarily “who he is”, but what "the marketers" have chosen as most effective.

What I would contend, though, is that what you interpreted as a lack of enthusiasm stemming from Mr. Bush's improper "handling" was really just the lack of character and wisdom that many of us see every time we see his face. I watch our President talk and see a man trying to remember what he’s supposed to say…what he’s been TOLD to say. This was all just peaking through a bit further yesterday...so far that apparently EVEN YOU noticed.

Thanks!
Tim Ford

p.s. Sincere wishes toward improved health.
