Police Brutality and White Supremacy

“White Supremacy isn't just a white dude in Idaho.” [1] Thanks Macklemore. However sad it is thats a true statement, Time and time again when you mentioned the hashtag blacklivesmatter you get some ignorant white person saying alllivesmatter. So while I'm letting out the most sarcastic sigh ever it time to school white people about the struggles of a black person, and this is coming from a person who is mostly white. (I have a black great-great grandmother, i just came out whiter than a snow cone, so I'm white.)

So in America over 920 people have been killed in 2015 alone, and the stats say that every 1000 people killed by the Police only one police officer gets convicted of a crime. [2] That is a staggering amount of people needlessly killed in America versus the amount of officers held accountable for their crimes. With that number black people are most likely killed while unarmed vs a white person, and Native American people are also just as susceptible to being killed by police as black people.[2]

While we are on the conversation of Police Brutality its not just in America, here in Canada the major issues with police brutality surfaced in June of 2010 at the G20 Summit in Toronto. One woman who was arrested for peacefully protesting, and was threatened with rape from three male police officers if she didn't shut up.[3] Canada land of the free home of the brave was subjected to cruel and unjust behaviour by the police. In fact an American travel advisory was placed on Toronto warning people to stay away from Toronto.

When it comes to being arrested black people statistically; by a whopping 34 per cent more likely to be killed by a police officer rather than a white person. In fact 4 per cent of all of those cases are labeled as an accident.[4] Serious violent crime and aggravated assault against blacks (58% and 61%) and Native Americans (55% and 59%) was reported more often than against whites (51% and 54%) or Asians (50% and 51%). Thats just in America alone.

When it comes to the countries that have the least amount of crime, its because they have had a reformation of the legal system and strict laws in place making them the least crime riddle countries in the world. Burkina Faso, Mali, Syria, Cambodia.[5]  Not one of those countries are white G7 countries, and Syria was the safest place in the middle east until the recent and ongoing war. Funny how countries that are not white majority have the lowest crime, all the top ten safest countries not one of them is a white country, yes that includes European countries.

Because of the white capitalistic ideas in place in most G7 countries makes almost anyone who isn't white painted as a criminal, regardless of whether or not they are innocent. In short white supremacy needs to stop, its a serious issue that need to be tackled more than ever.
