Very successful event in Praya Lane, Malacca organized by Martin Theseira on Tuesday 1 November 2023. It was a Senior Citizens Dinner Treat.
Martin Theseira's message goes like this,
"Greetings my fellow parishioners and kampung riends of Praya Lane, welcome to today's event in honour of Our Lady of The Rosary and to the senior citizens whom I cherish dearly.
Its been a long time since we met this way to honour Our Lady at the end of the Rosary month of October. It used to be a grand celebration of the Community, for the Community and with the Community, but it's not the same nowadays and things have change over the years.
We had our soul ripped off when the reclamation rob us of our sea front in the 1980's. The way of life drastically changed and many residents moved out, and some were forced out.
Though many still hold fond memories of the place, the church, the sea and the many past times during childhood days, Praya Lane today is left to die a slow death abandoned and almost forgotten.
Do we need to do something about it, or just leave thing as it is?. Do we need to inject new life into the place so fondly remembered by so many of us?.
The future is in your hands!
The good news is, I am happy to announce the formation of a Heritage Arts and Cultural Society to start community initiatives such as this event today, to kick start the revitalization process of our beloved kampung. And hopefully it can be a good way to rekindle a sense of Community once more into Praya Lane like before.
To start a project is not difficult but, the continuity of it is the real challenge.
Whether we succeed or not, only time will tell and we leave it in the hands of the Lord. With Gods grace I am confident we will see some light at the end of the tunnel.
As the Organizing chairperson of today's event I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Committee members, volunteers, donors and helpers for making this event a fun and memorable one. We look forward for your continuous support to future initiatives.
