  • On Thursday, Najeeb Jung resigned as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.
  • He thanked the Prime Minister for all the help and cooperation he received during his tenure as the Lt. Governor.

  • Congress alleges conspiracy over Jung's resignation

  • Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken alleged that Najeeb Jung was forced to resign as he was about to make public the Shunglu Committee report; the report looked into irregularities in over 200 files of the Delhi government.
  • Congress alleged that the report would have decimated AAP's chances in Goa and Punjab.
  • They alleged that BJP and AAP made a deal to sideline the Congress.

  • Reports indicated that Former Home Secretary, Anil Baijal is set to replace Najeeb Jung as the Lt Governor of Delhi; President Pranab Mukherjee accepted Jung's resignation today.

  • Sources stated that Delhi's LG Anil Baijal will have to deal with issues raised by his predecessor Najeeb Jung. Jung clashed with the Delhi government's decision to appoint its own lawyers to argue their cases in the SC.
  • Jung said the decision was "in disregard to the President of India."
  • Sources said the issue may soon require Baijal's intervention.
