British-Pakistani parliamentarians Muzdalfa Ahmed and Arqam-ul-Hadeed on Thursday said that the impassionate maiden Speech of Prime Minister Imran Khan last year at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) motivated them to spread awareness on the Kashmir issue in Britain.

The brother-sister duo appeared on a program aired by HUM TV yesterday and talked about their inspiration on working for the Kashmir cause. Arqam said the statement of the Pakistani premier, who called himself the ambassador of Kashmir in his speech, motivated them and their colleagues to vehemently raise the issue in the UK.

They also praised the efforts of Shehryar Afridi, who is the Chairman Kashmir Committee, of his determination towards the cause. Ahmed said Afridi had called upon them himself which was very encouraging. PM Imran had garnered massive praise globally for his remarkable speech on the floor of the United Nations last year.

He again delivered an instructive speech at the UNGA session last month that has become the most viewed speech by a world leader at UN this year, according to the YouTube channel of United Nations.
The speech of Pakistan’s premier has garnered more than 170,000 views on the Youtube channel of the channel ever since it was uploaded on Sept 25th. Meanwhile, the speech of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, racked up 137,000 views, landing at the second spot in the list of most-viewed speeches of the world leaders.

On the third spot came Indonesia’s Joko Widodo. Meanwhile, Indian premier Narendra Modi’s UN speech has received nearly 60,000 views on YouTube.
