A Deer Resistant, Shade Tolerant Native Landscape

A Deer Resistant, Shade Tolerant Native Landscape in Columbia, MD

This client needed help figuring out how to update her landscape. She wanted advice on what to keep and what to remove and wanted to use native plants. We removed the crape myrtle tree at the front right corner because there was a crab apple tree near if that wasn’t allowing the crape myrtle to get the sun or have the space that it would need to thrive. We also recommended removing the old foundation shrubs along the front and right side of the house. Lauren selected Deer Resistant Shade native plants and the crew planting with compost, edged and mulched. See the list of plants for this project below!

Plant List:
Ilex glabra ‘Shamrock’
Iris cristata
Phlox divaricata
Dicentra formosa ‘Luxuriant’
Chelone lyonii ‘Hot Lips’
Aster divaricata
Carex laxiculmis ‘Hobb’
Heuchera americana
Amalanchier x grandiflora ‘Autumn Brilliance’
Calycanthus floridus
