Potting up Myrtus ugni - Chilean Guava Seedlings

Today was quite busy with Potting up various seedlings.

First on the job list was potting on Myrtus ugni seedlings that had been sown a few months ago.

Germinated Mrytus ugni Seeds
The seeds had been sown in a sand and vermiculite mixture. I was going to prick them out and put into small module trays from a window sill propagator as shown in the photograph below.

The small tray was filled with new multi-purpose compost and then the end of a pencil was inserted into each module in the tray to create a planting hole for each of the seedlings.

The seedlings were carefully pricked out from the sowing medium by carefully holding one of the leaves and inserting the end of a pencil underneath the seedling and gently lifting it out of the compost as can be seen in the photograph below.

Seedling Carefully Pricked Out

The seedlings were inserted into the hole made in the compost and the compost firmed around the seedling and then finally watered in.

These will be grown on for a few months before potting into  bigger sized pots.
