However, Indian bowlers, especially Mohammed Siraj, made huge strides towards victory as they poured their hearts out to cause Windies to collapse on day four, while Siraj rattled the lower order to claim a fifer. Debutant Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets while Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin took 3 wickets between themselves. Windies lost their last five wickets within the first hour on Day 4.

India, with a lead of 183 points, declared the Test with almost four sessions to go. Brathwaite chased 365 and started well, but R Ashwin left him and backed it up with another wicket in his next over. On the fifth and final day, the equation was that Windies needed 289 runs against India, 8 wickets away from victory, but rain prevented any cricketing action. India won the first Test in Dominica to take a 1-0 lead in the two match Test series. With rain forcing a draw in the 2nd Test, the visitors win the Test series 1–0.
