Uttarakhand News: In Uttarkashi district, there were heavy rains and cloudbursts in many places, including Purola, Barkot, Dhauntri, heavily damaging roads, culverts, farm sheds, houses and shops. There is currently no information on casualties. Those affected have been transferred to safer places.

Uttarkashi District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela collected information in this regard from the District Disaster Control Room on receiving information about cloudburst and heavy rain around 2:30-3:00 PM on Friday night. He also contacted the public representatives and inquired about the people affected by the heavy rains and the damage done to the area. The Subdistrict Court has instructed all deputy subdistrict court judges present at the incident locations to keep the pace of aid high and to distribute the aid amount among those affected today.

Some cottages of a tourist resort have been damaged by rubble from landslides in Gangnani in Barkot tehsil. Debris also invaded the premises of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Residential School in Gangnani, causing panic among the female students living there. Although all the girl students of the school are safe.

School principal Sarojini said it rained heavily overnight, leaving the campus full of water and debris. He said that State Disaster Response Force personnel reached the school and brought the situation under control. Cloudbursts and landslides also occurred in Chhara Khad of Purola. The affected people were transferred to safer places on Saturday morning. Vehicles on the road here are also buried under the rubble.

A landslide has occurred near Dhauntri village. Due to heavy rainfall, the power supply in the entire region has come to a standstill. In addition, the Yamunotri National Highway is blocked to traffic in many places between Barkot and Gangnani. The Alvedar Road construction company is in the process of opening the road to traffic.
