BJP targeted Manipur incident, blamed opposition parties…

BJP hit back at opposition: The Bharatiya Janata Party claimed on Saturday that opposition-ruled states such as Rajasthan, West Bengal and Bihar have a long list of horrific crimes against women, but the opposition parties are playing politics over the Manipur incident.

A video of two women belonging to a community being paraded naked by a group of people from conflicting communities in the violence-ravaged state of Manipur has gone viral, sparking anger in the country. The incident took place on May 4, the video of which went viral on July 19.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur here targeted the opposition parties at BJP headquarters. He referred to some criminal cases registered against women in Rajasthan, Bihar and West Bengal and accused Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and leaders of other opposition parties of remaining silent about crimes against women in non-BJP-ruled states.

More than a lakh cases of crime against women have been recorded in Rajasthan in the past four years, Thakur claimed. A total of 33,000 cases are related to sexual harassment of women in Rajasthan. Regarding the impeachment of Minister Rajendra Gudha in the government of Rajasthan, Anurag Thakur said that at the behest of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot deposed the minister because he (Gudha) had expressed concern about the rising crimes against women in the state.

Thakur claimed that Gudha was fired because she (Gudha) had expressed concern about the rise in crime against women in Rajasthan and asked for an introspection while demanding a debate on the matter.

Thakur asked, will Chief Minister Gehlot resign if his own ministers say that the Chief Minister has lost his iqbal and so too when a woman is killed and burnt in his (Gehlot’s) home district. Not only this, five kilometers away from his (Gehlot) residence, a woman is raped and left to die?

This is a question to (Congress President Mallikarjuna) family leaders of Kharge and Gandhi, he said. Thakur said whether he (congress leader) has forgotten his responsibility. The Union minister addressed the Trinamool Congress and said that West Bengal is also not far behind Rajasthan when it comes to crime against women.

Mamta (Banerjee) ji, I don’t know if you have an ounce of affection in your heart, but humanity was brought to shame in Howrah’s Panchla area when more than 40 Trinamool Congress (TMC) goons paraded a naked woman on the day of panchayat polls and attacked and humiliated a candidate, he claimed.

Not only this, a video went viral of two women being paraded half-naked in Malda, West Bengal, the minister claimed. Where has Mamta Banerjee’s Mamta gone? Where is the national government? Why was no action taken?
