1 killed, 3 others injured in Himachal cloudburst

Himachal Pradesh News: One person was killed and three others injured in a cloudburst in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh in the early hours of Monday. Two of the three injured in the incident are in critical condition. 720 roads are closed in the state, with repair work underway. Yellow alert has been issued in some places for heavy rainfall until July 21.

The agents provided this information. According to the State Emergency Response Center, the incident occurred around 3:55 am near Kayas village in Kullu, swept several vehicles and blocked a road. According to officials, one person who died in the cloudburst has been identified as Badal Sharma, a resident of Chansari village in Kullu. The condition of two of the three injured in the incident is serious, he said.

According to officials, the local authorities took action immediately after the report and started the exercise with the help of machines to clear the road for traffic. He said the rescue operation was hampered by the blockade of the road. While light to heavy rainfall continued in Himachal Pradesh, several incidents of landslides have been reported from the state. The Mandi-Pandoh road was again blocked for about seven miles by a stone falling on the machine. No casualties were reported in this incident.

Officials said the Sanjauli-Lakkar Bazar road in Shimla was also blocked due to the landslide. 720 roads are closed in the state, with repair work underway. The local meteorological office has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in some places in the state through July 21 and is predicting more rain through July 23.

Since the start of the monsoon on June 24, 122 people have died in rain-related incidents and road accidents in Himachal Pradesh, while 12 people are reported missing, according to the State Emergency Response Center. The state suffered a total loss of Rs 4,636 crore due to the rains.

Kataula in the Mandi district received the highest rainfall of 89 millimeters (mm) in the state on Monday, followed by Baggi here with 41.5 mm. Seobagh got 41mm of rain, Nahan 36.5, Sundernagar 32, Bharmour 30, Dhaulakuan 29 and Mandi and Bhuntar 21-21mm of rain.

Meanwhile, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla flagged two relief vehicles for flood-stricken areas of Mandi district from Raj Bhavan. He said that aid is being provided through the Red Cross and that the National Red Cross has also been requested to provide more aid material.

The governor said that the Ministry of the Interior is monitoring the disaster and is also providing immediate assistance. He also urged the general public to contribute to the disaster fund.
