Former minister Dara Singh Chauhan returns to BJP, may become minister

Former UP minister Dara Singh Chauhan joins BJP: Dara Singh Chauhan, a former minister in the government of Uttar Pradesh who resigned from the Samajwadi party, joined the BJP here on Monday. It is said that Chauhan can become a minister in the Yogi government. Also during the first term of the Yogi government, Chauhan was the Minister of Forest and Environment.

At BJP state headquarters, Chouhan was given party membership by BJP state president Bhupendra Singh Choudhary in the presence of deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak. Chauhan, MLA from Ghosi (Mau) constituency, has tendered his resignation to the Speaker, Satish Mahana.

Chauhan’s Return Home: Earlier, in the 2022 assembly elections, Chouhan joined the SP after stepping down as forestry minister in the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government and was elected on an SP ticket from the Ghosi assembly seat in the Mau -district. Chouhan accused the BJP government of neglecting the backward classes and campaigned fiercely for the SP, but not gaining the expected importance there, he returned home (to the BJP).

Parties have changed again and again: Chouhan, a two-time member of the Rajya Sabha from Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party respectively, and a BSP ticketed MP from Ghosi Lok Sabha constituency in 2009, had joined the BJP ahead of the 2017 parliamentary elections .

Chauhan was elected from Mau’s constituency of Madhuban in 2017 and became a minister in the Yogi government. He expressed his happiness for joining BJP and expressed his gratitude towards the state and national leadership of the party. Chouhan said Narendra Modi will become prime minister again in 2024. He also praised the development work of Modi and Yogi government. (Agency/Webdunia)
