Munger (Bihar): Union Home Minister and BJP senior Leader Amit Shah on Thursday accused opposition leaders who attended the June 23 meeting in Patna of being involved in scams worth more than Rs 20 lakh crore. . Hitting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who organized the meeting, Shah said the people of the state would give a “proper response to the corrupt leaders” in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

The Union Home Secretary was addressing a rally organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Lakhisarai, Munger parliamentary constituency. He claimed that all attempts by Congress to cast Rahul Gandhi as a mass leader have “failed.” Shah said: “Bihar has always spoken out against corruption. Opposition leaders who attended the Patna meeting on June 23 are involved in scams worth more than Rs 20 lakh crore…Bihar will give a proper response to the corrupt leaders in 2024 Lok Sabha Election” .

The Union Home Minister arrived in Bihar for the first time after the opposition leaders’ meeting in Patna last week. Shah had previously visited the state three months ago. Shah said the leaders who betrayed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) should be “punished”, referring to Kumar, who resigned from the BJP last year to form a “grand alliance” government in the state. Shah also questioned the achievements of the prime minister, asking: “Should Nitish babu say what he did for Bihar?”

Shah alleged: “Paltu Babu Nitish Kumar was asking what the BJP has done in the last nine years (of the NDA government in the Center)…Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has done a lot for the overall development of the country…Nitish always. they change their alliance partners and are cheating (RJD boss) Lalu ji. He’s not trustworthy.”

The Union Home Secretary said: “The Congress has been trying to ‘launch’ Rahul Gandhi for the last 20 years. But they failed… the voters have full faith in Modi ji.” He also alleged that the situation of law and the order in the state under the rule of ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (JDU, RJD and Congress alliance) is getting worse day by day.Shah, on the other hand, claimed that during the nine years of NDA rule in the Center, the State obtained several major infrastructure projects including medical schools, highways, bridges, new railway lines, 130 MW thermal power plants.

Earlier in the day, top BJP leaders including the party’s state unit chairman Samrat Chowdhary and Bihar Union ministers greeted Shah at the airport here. Shah arrived in Lakhisarai by helicopter to address the demonstration. The Munger Lok Sabha constituency is currently held by Rajeev Ranjan Singh alias ‘Lalan’, the national chairman of Kumar’s JDU party. (agency)
