New Delhi: Amavasya and the date of the full moon are of great importance in Sanatan Dharma. According to Panchang, Amavasya Tithi falls on the day after Krishna Paksha’s Chaturdashi every month. Therefore today i.e. June 18th is ‘Ashadha Amavasya’ (Ashadha Amavasya 2023). The moon is not visible in the sky on Amavasya Tithi. There is a law of worship, song, penance and charity on this day. Therefore, on Amavasya Tithi, Lord Vishnu is worshiped according to the rituals. The ancestors are also worshiped on this day. Tarpan and Shraddha-karma are realized in this. According to the Panchang, the date of Ashadh Amavasya begins at 9:11 a.m. on June 17 and ends the next day, June 18, at 10:06 a.m. Therefore, June 17 is Darsha Amavasya and the June 18 is Ashadh Amavasya. On this day there will be adoration, singing, penance and charity. Kalsarp and Pitridosh are also removed on Amavasya Tithi.

method of worship
On this day wake up in Brahma Muhurta and meditate on Lord Vishnu.
Take a bath with water containing Ganges water and meditate. If possible, take a Ganga bath.
Then make a vow to worship and offer water to the Sun God.
Chant the mantras of the Sun God and recite the Surya Chalisa.
Worship Lord Vishnu with devotion and read Vishnu Sahastranam.
After the worship is over, float sesame seeds in the flowing water.
On this day, by spreading mole (seesame remedies), good luck comes to the house.
Lastly, donate to the poor or Brahmins and seek their blessings.
Importance
The month of Ashadha has a special meaning in Hinduism. Both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are worshiped this month. By worshiping both Lord Shiva and Vishnu together in the month of Ashadha, a person gets success in all fields of life and comes happiness and prosperity.
Apart from this, by worshiping and offering Arghya to Lord Surya in the month of Ashadh, one gets wealth and respect. In the month of Ashadh, special worship to God should be done with Kaner flowers, red colored flowers or lotus flowers. Those who worship the omnipresent Govind in this golden-flowered month will never be afraid of Yamraj. Being always worshiped by Tulsi, Shyama Tulsi and Ashoka, Shri Vishnu eliminates daily suffering.
