Jairam Ramesh, one of the main leaders of the Congress, is probably not aware of the importance of Geeta Press Gorakhpur and its unique contribution to the religion and culture of India. It is never convenient to throw politics into everything without thinking and making promiscuous comments. Regarding awarding the Gandhi Peace Prize to Geeta Press, Jairam Ramesh said that it is like awarding an award to Savarkar and Godse. This Ramesh comment is completely absurd. Bhaiji Hanumanprasad Poddar and Jaidayal Goenka, staying away from the desire for personal fame, have made an immense contribution in keeping Hindu religion and Sanatana culture alive through Gita Press and promoting high moral values. Geeta Press published Puranas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata and many other rare texts and made them available to readers at a very low cost. Southern Literature Tulsi literature was easily presented in the simplest form. Even today, his monthly assistance reaches the homes of thousands of people, where scholarly research articles remain. The annual welfare issue is collectible and constitutive for generations. No Gita Press publication has condemned any other religion, instead emphasizing human life and high moral values. Hanuman Prasad Poddar was influenced by Mahatma Gandhi and had also gone to jail fighting for freedom. The publication of Rs 4.7 crore religious books and Rs 16.21 crore Shrimad Bhagavad Gita at low cost is commendable in all respects. Jairam Ramesh must know that Geeta Press has always stayed away from politics. In his 100 years he never accepted any honor or award. Even now, Geeta Press has said that they will not accept the fee of Rs 1 crore, but will only accept the certificate plate and spinning wheel. It is a mistake to comment on an institution that has so much dignity from a political point of view. Sanatana and Hindutva culture is not a matter of shame, it is a matter of pride. It is surprising if those whose name is Jairam comment on this institution. It has been a fashion to criticize Hindutva and Sanatana culture in the name of secularism. When the Congress realized its mistake, its leaders moved towards soft Hindutva. Jairam Ramesh should have known the party high command’s opinion of him before making such nonsensical comments. Geeta Press Gorakhpur’s Geeta will be found in most Hindu homes. It would be better if Jairam Ramesh understands the error and insights from him. The Gita, which inspires us to work, says that just as all rivers flow into the sea, in the same way whoever adopts any type of worship system or religion finds himself in the end with God himself.
