Today’s Special News | Biperjoy cyclonic storm danger now

– Dr. Anita Rathore

The speed of Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy in the Arabian Sea has increased again, but its circles or rings formed in the sea have also grown larger. In these, the capacity to lift water has also been increased. It is believed that when Biparjoy hits the Gujarat coast on June 15, its speed may range from 150 to 165 kilometers per hour. Everyone knows that sea storms with a speed of more than 140 km are very dangerous.

The Meteorological Department estimates that when this storm hits the Gujarat coast, the wind speed may increase from its current speed, so there may be a danger of breaking or uprooting large trees, power poles and telephone lines. The Meteorological Department warned of heavy rain in different parts of Kutch, Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagadh and Morbi districts on June 14-15. From the speed with which this storm is moving, it has become clear that it will hit the port of Jakhau in Gujarat in the early morning of June 15. In Gujarat, where earlier the Meteorological Department had issued Orange Alert, it has now been changed to Red Alert for June 15.

Constantly increasing its speed and dodging experts, Cyclonic Storm Biparjoy, when it hits the coast, can raise waves from 4 to 7 meters high. Now it remains to be seen how hot they will be. Because one of the reasons for the danger of a storm is the heat of the water from the waves moving in its vortex. However, due to Biperjoy, the Meteorological Department is forecasting strong winds and light rain in many areas in Rajasthan and Delhi NCR as well.

On one side where there is a cyclonic storm wave, on the other side the monsoon has also arrived. So time has become a strange cocktail. That is why there will be mixed monsoon and cyclonic storm rains in many places. Even Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive showers on June 17 and 18 as a result of this cocktail. Although the Department of Meteorology has given a good news that Biparjoy cyclonic storm will not have any adverse effect on the monsoon. It won’t even obstruct your steering.

As the danger of the biperjoy approaches, so does its aggressiveness and the chance of damage from it. So far, some 79 trains have been stopped on various routes due to Biparjoy and the routes of at least two dozen trains have been changed. Railways has partially or completely halted the operation of more than a dozen trains running from Rajasthan to Porbandar, Bhuj, Okha, Gandhidham in Gujarat.

Rajasthan is expected to see the least damage from this storm so far. But the way in which Cyclone Biparjoy changes its movements or estimated path as polymorphic, until it passes through an area, it is difficult to predict what its consequences may be. When any sea storm increases the speed above 100 kilometers per hour, during that time the operation of the train becomes dangerous.

This is the reason why train operations have been halted in many parts of Gujarat. Fishermen have also been specifically instructed not to venture out to sea until the evening of June 16. In Kutch-Saurashtra, around 30,000 people from villages located on the 10 kilometer border of the sea coast have been evacuated to safe houses, animals on a large scale are victims of their negativity. Marine storms also have a very negative effect on crops, vegetation and the construction sector.

There have always been storms in India, but if they have been seen in recent years, both their number and intensity have increased since the last two decades. There was a super cyclone in 1999, in which more than 10,000 people lost their lives. However, Biparjoy is not expected to be as dangerous as the super cyclone that hit the Odisha coast on October 29, 1999, which killed 9,885 people, according to government figures. However, according to some private sources, the number of people who died in this storm had risen to 50 thousand. Experts believe that due to global warming, the heat in the sea water is increasing, so these storms are increasing.
