As Cyclone Biparjoy approaches, thousands evacuate their homes in Pakistan

Daily digital news desk: Cyclone ‘Biparaya’ becomes more and more dangerous as its strength increases. According to forecasters, the cyclone could hit next Thursday. The ‘catastrophe’ will move towards Pakistan via Saurashtra and the Kutch coast. The intensity of the cyclone is expected to be quite severe. So Islamabad is ready to deal with it. At least 60,000 people have already left their homes in coastal areas and headed for safer places.

Biparjoy has been rated a category 3 or very strong cyclone. The cyclone will hit with a wind speed of 140 to 150 km per hour. According to the Department of Meteorology, the maximum wind speed can reach up to 170 km per hour. It is known that the disaster is going to hit the coastal district of Thatta in Pakistan and Gujarat in India tomorrow.

The areas of Pakistan that are expected to be affected the most are: Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Tharparkar, Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Hyderabad, Ormara. According to the statistics provided by the Chief Minister of Sindh, around 71 markets in seven taluks in three provinces are under human threat. As of Tuesday, 57,000 residents have been evacuated from the danger zone to safe havens. Many have left their homes out of fear and alone.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Environment Minister Sherry Rahman assured the public. She said that the government is monitoring the situation along with the administration of Sindh and Balochistan. They are prepared to face any situation.

Keep in mind that India will also be affected by the disaster. Gujarat is expected to suffer the most damage. The administration is quite concerned about the warning from the meteorological department. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting on Monday. He also discussed this with the Chief Minister of Gujarat. In Pakistan’s coastal areas, including Gujarat and Mumbai, residents of war-torn areas are being evacuated to safer locations.
