Politics | Nitish discussed with Kharge, Rahul, the date of the opposition parties meeting, the decision on the venue in one or two days.

New Delhi. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met with Congress Speaker Mallikarjun Kharge and former President Rahul Gandhi on Monday and had a detailed discussion on stepping up the opposition’s unity efforts and its future roadmap. . During this, it was also decided that the date and venue of the Opposition parties’ Meeting would be decided in the next one or two days. After the meeting, Kharge said that the current political situation was discussed at today’s meeting and the process of giving a new direction to the country has been carried forward.

He tweeted: “Now the country will be united, ‘the strength of democracy’ is our message.” Rahul Gandhi ji and I discussed the current political situation with the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today and carried out the process of giving the country a new direction.

Congress Secretary General KC Venugopal and Janata Dal (United) National Chairman Lalan Singh and Bihar Government Minister Sanjay Jha were present for the meeting which lasted over an hour at Kharge’s residence ’10 Rajaji Marg’. Earlier Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was supposed to attend the meeting as well but due to some reasons he was unable to attend.

After the meeting, Venugopal also said that the proposed meeting of the opposition parties would be attended by most of the political parties. He told reporters: “The date and place of the opposition parties’ meeting will be decided in the next one or two days. It was decided at today’s meeting.”

Asked how many parties would attend the proposed meeting, Venugopal said: “Most political parties will attend.” It was previously reported that the meeting of the opposition parties could be held in Patna, the capital of Bihar.

Earlier, on April 12, Nitish met with top congressional leaders and discussed opposition unity. Several prominent opposition leaders were seen at the swearing-in ceremony of Siddaramaiah and his government ministers in Karnataka last Saturday and an attempt was made to send a message of opposition unity from here.

Congress Speaker Mallikarjun Kharge and top JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar have been trying to bring opposition unity for the past few months ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. As part of this effort, Kharge has spoken to and met with various opposition leaders. On the other hand, Nitish Kumar also met many opposition leaders and advised (everyone) to join one platform.
