According to the report of the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC), which monitors several countries, in the year 2022, more than 70 million people were displaced worldwide. In which weather related disasters in India alone forced 2.5 million people to be displaced.

According to the IDMC report, the Russian-Ukrainian war in Ukraine, as well as the floods, caused mass displacements. Which was 20% more than a year ago. It has been said in the report that due to the floods, displacement in Pakistan, Nigeria and Brazil remained at a record level. The settlements of millions of people in Pakistan were affected by the flood, the economic growth of Pakistan also stopped, today Pakistan is on the verge of bankruptcy.

The situation worsened due to the drought

The Norwegian Refugee Council’s (NRC) Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC) said in a report on Thursday May 11 that the situation has worsened due to drought in African countries such as Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. There has been a 40% increase in the number of people displaced in 2022 compared to 2021 due to disasters. The report states that 71 million people have been displaced worldwide due to various reasons, including war, violence, and natural disasters.

Displacement of more than 7 million people in Ukraine alone

Last month, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk said that 7 million (7 million) Ukrainians have been internally displaced due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. She said that due to the Russian invasions millions of people had to leave their country and flee. At the same time, a government press service said that since August 2022, some 118,000 people have been evacuated from conflict-affected areas of Ukraine.
