Today’s Special News | The disappearance of 70 girls every day in Maharashtra is cause for concern

Not just in Kerala and Gujarat, human trafficking has also become a matter of great concern in Maharashtra. This fact gives goosebumps because 5610 girls have disappeared from Maharashtra in the last 3 months. After all, what are the Government and its police doing? How many girls would have been thrown into prostitution when they fell into the wrong hands. Can’t they be saved? According to the State Commission for Women, Maharashtra ranks first in the list of Missing Girls in the country since 2020. This year 1,600 girls went missing in January, 1,810 in February and 2,200 in March, so the number is continuously rising. On average 70 girls go missing from Maharashtra every day.

The number of missing girls by district is as follows: Pune 228, Nashik 161, Kolhapur 114, Thane 133, Ahmednagar 101, Jalgaon 81, Sangli 82, Yavatmal 74. State Commission for Women Chairman Rupali Chakankar alleged that these cases are on the rise. The police take no action despite the demand to investigate. Most of the missing girls are being sexually exploited. If these missing girls are not found soon, then they may be subject to human trafficking. Chakankar has demanded Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take action on this matter. He also said that when the Minister for Women and Child Development, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, was asked what action the government was taking in this matter, he refused to give any answer.

Supriya Sule is also worried.

Expressing her deep concern about the increase in cases of missing girls, NCP MP Supriya Sule addressed the Center and the state government and asked what steps the state government is taking to find these girls. The Women and Child Development Department should also show promptness in this matter. Sule has demanded that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde seriously intervene in this matter. Sule said that the methods of deceiving and kidnapping girls have also increased.

Is the government not worried about what will happen after these missing girls? What measures are being taken in this regard at the state government level? In this regard, it is necessary to take measures after hearing the opinion of women, non-governmental organizations and experts in the social sector. There is an urgent need for the Department of the Interior and the Department of Women and Family Welfare to work together on this very serious issue. Rupali Chakankar said that the State Women’s Commission has been continuously monitoring these cases for the past 16 months. A report is being sought from the Missing Persons Department, Mumbai.

Every politician lacks a cell. Is it active or not? The missing girls include both minors and adults. His identity is not revealed. The greed of the marriage by trapping them in an affair, makes the girls disappear under the pretext of giving them a job. I don’t know what happens to them then. Organized gangs may also be behind this, kidnapping girls from one state and selling them in another state. The rate of missing girls is higher in rural areas beset by poverty and deprivation compared to urban areas. By keeping a strict watch at train stations, bus stops, and keeping an eye on suspicious vehicles, such incidents of kidnapping or running away from home under the influence can be prevented.
