Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday after eight hours of questioning.

Manish is seen as Arvind Kejriwal’s most trusted assistant.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal is the face of Delhi’s model education policy that is being promoted across the country.

Manish also sees himself at the center of the Aam Aadmi Party’s expansion plan across the country.

The CBI has arrested Manish in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Excise Policy 2021-22. Although this excise policy of the Delhi government has already been cancelled.

The CBI says that Manish was giving evasive answers during the interrogation. The CBI has alleged that Manish was not cooperating in the investigation. The CBI claims there is concrete evidence against Manish. CBI will present Manish in court on Monday.

The Aam Aadmi Party has rejected the CBI’s claims. You have said that the ruling Center Bharatiya Janata Party had Manish arrested in a bogus case under dirty politics.

Earlier, on October 17 last year, the CBI had questioned Manish Sisodia. One month after this interrogation, the CBI filed a charge sheet, which does not name Manish Sisodia.

On August 17 last year, the CBI had registered a case against Manish and 14 others citing the Home Office.

There is an allegation against Manish that he unfairly shifted excise policy in favor of licensees. Based on this, the license fee was removed or reduced.

It is alleged that the liquor wholesaler’s license was extended without official approval.

Vijay Nair, who was in charge of communication and media for the Aam Aadmi Party, is alleged to have received Rs 100 crore as an advance “bribe” from a “Southern Group” as the leader of the AAP.

According to a report by The Hindu, YSR Congress Party MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, his son Raghava Magunta, TRS MLC Kavitha and Aurobindo Pharma director P Sarath Chandra Reddy all hold stakes in this Southern group.

The partners of this group allegedly handed over 65 percent of the shares to Mahandru Indo Spirits to recover the payment. In this, participation was controlled through a fictitious representation.

According to the CBI charge sheet, bulk distribution was to go from spirits companies Pernod Ricard and Diageo to Indo Spirits and Brindco Spirits. It is alleged that six percent of the amount received from the wholesalers was taken as a bribe and this amount was transferred to Vijay Nair and Hyderabad-based businessman Abhishek. It was split down the middle between Boinpally.

In this case, on the basis of the CBI case, the Enforcement Directorate, that is, ED, is also investigating money laundering and has arrested nine people.

It has been said in the charge sheet that the amount of the alleged bribe was used in the AAP election campaign in the Goa assembly election in 2022 via hawala. The ED has alleged that the members of the ‘Southern Group’ were represented by co-defendants Arun Pillai, Abhishek Boinapalli and chartered accountant Bachibabu Gorantla. The CBI had also recently arrested Gorantla.

Manish Sisodia has a total of 18 government departments in Delhi. In May last year, another Kejriwal minister, Satyendar Jain, was arrested in a money laundering case.

After the arrest of Satyendra Jain, Manish Sisodia got many other portfolios. Manish Sisodia was preparing to present the Delhi budget, which was due in the second week of March.

Manish Sisodia has been presenting the budget since the first government of the Aam Aadmi Party. Kejriwal used to describe Manish Sisodia as the best education minister in the country. The association between Kejriwal and Manish dates back to the days of NGO transformation before entering politics.

Manish Sisodia had responsibility for 18 major departments out of a total of 33 departments in the Government of Delhi. It is said that Manish took the entire responsibility of the Delhi government on his shoulder and kept Arvind Kejriwal off the burden of expanding the party across the country.

Compared to Manish Sisodia, the other ministers in Kejriwal’s cabinet do not stand out anywhere. Apart from Manish, Kailash Gehlot has six purses, Raj Kumar Anand has four, Gopal Rai has three and Imran Hussain has two.

It is said that it was because of Manish Sisodia that Kejriwal did not keep any apartment with him and kept doing the expansion work of the party without any concern.

Manish Sisodia is also credited for good school and hospital policy in Delhi. After the arrest of Satyendra Jain, if there was no effect on Kejriwal’s rule, Manish Sisodia is also credited for this. But now that Manish has also been arrested, what will Kejriwal do?

Aam Aadmi Party is preparing to file a bail application. If Manish gets bail, it will be a huge relief for Kejriwal. If Manish stays in jail for a long time like Satyendar Jain, then Kejriwal will have to find an alternative.

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy tweeted: “I am shocked that the Union Home Office allowed the CBI to interrogate and take action against Manish Sisodia without any assignment.” CBI has been after Manish for many days, but the result is zero.
