Forex traders said inflows of foreign funds and the dollar’s weakness against other currencies limited the rupee’s losses. The rupee opened flat at 82.79 to the dollar on the interbank foreign exchange market. It then dropped to 82.83 to the dollar.
This is a 4 paise drop compared to the previous closing level. In the previous trading session on Tuesday, the rupee had closed at 82.79 to the dollar. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the position of the dollar against a basket of six currencies, fell 0.09 percent to 104.01.
