Tension grows between China and the Pope

Screenshot,

The pope has not recognized the Chinese government-backed organization.

The Vatican has refused to recognize a recently ordained priest in China. There are a large number of clergy in China who belong to the pro-China Catholic organization.

The name of this organization of priests in China is the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association or CPCA. But the Pope, the greatest religious leader of Catholic Christians, has not recognized it.

The tension between the Vatican and the Chinese government is expected to increase further due to the boycott of the Chinese priest in Rome.

Appointment

Joseph Yu Fusheng was ordained a priest last week in a ceremony in Harbin, north China.

But the hiring process was carried out under the supervision of the state body CPCA. Obviously the priest did not have the blessing of the Pope.

He was also warned by the Vatican that if he accepted the appointment he would be excommunicated from the Catholic community. The Vatican has demonstrated this by implementing it.

However, the Chinese government has not yet provided any response on the matter. But he had previously described the threat of excommunication from the Vatican as “shocking”.

Meanwhile, there has been another incident that has caused tension in the tense relationship between the Vatican and China.

A Christian clergyman appointed under state supervision announced at the end of the week that he is parting ways with the CPCA.

Analysts say Bishop Thaddeus Ma Daqin has challenged China’s leadership in doing so. It is said that he is currently being held hostage by the government.
