How To Increase Your Item Level In Lost Ark

Whether you’re looking to fight your way through the Chaos Dungeons, ascend the Tower, or complete those island quests, you’ll want to go in with a robust Lost Ark item set to improve your chances of success. Let’s take a look at some ways to increase your item level in Lost Ark that don’t involve you having to spend on Lost Ark gold for sale.

What is the Lost Ark Item Level?

Quite simply, it’s one of the progression mechanics utilized by Lost Ark. Several activities will require you to meet a minimum Lost Ark item level, while at other times you’ll simply find it impossible to defeat certain enemies without upgrading your gear. As we’ll soon discuss, most of this upgrading process will involve honing your gear. And although these honing materials can be bought from the Lost Ark Shop, it’s probably best to grind your way to earning them instead.

Upgrading through Honing

First things first, you gotta get your honing materials right!

  • Weapons require destructive stones.
  • Armors require Guardian Stones.
  • Harmony Shards and Leapstones can be used to upgrade both weapons and armor.

But how do you get your hands on these honing materials? One method is to go about clearing as many of the increasingly challenging 50 floors of the Tower as you can. Alternatively, you could leap into the Chaos Dungeons with up to four people and try to take down the monsters within the time limit. This will get you a multitude of rewards, including the honing materials you seek. Or you could always look to find more game currency to buy them.

However, both of the above options require you to be at least level 50, so if you’re just starting out, they may not be a viable option for you. Of course, you always have the trusty Island Quests. In particular, the ones in areas like Starlight Isle, Panda Island, Glacier Island, and Shadow Island should earn you plenty of honing materials. But in general, Island Quests are always a safe bet for you if you’re looking for honing materials.

If you have accumulated a significant number of bloodstones by completing guild tasks, you can trade these in for harmony shards at the Sylmael Bloodstone Exchanges, which can be found in every major city in Lost Ark. It’s safe to say there are plenty of ways to earn honing materials if you look hard enough!

What is the Gear Transfer system?

So you spent ages piling up those honing materials, used them to max out your Lost Ark items, and suddenly discovered an even better Lost Ark item. All your materials went to waste, right? Wrong! That’s where the gear transfer system comes in. As the name suggests, this allows you to transfer your upgrades from one Lost Ark items to another without throwing all your efforts to waste.

So the next time you come across a dope-looking item, you know what you have to do! Just keep in mind that you will lose your previous Lost Ark items in the process.

What is the Honing Failure?

While your first few Lost Ark items upgrades will almost always succeed, as the Lost Ark items level increases, the chances of failure will start to rise too. It sounds a little harsh, but it keeps the game interesting and challenging.

But the upgrade process isn’t all about luck; your fate is still largely in your hands. One method is for you to make use of the Star’s Breath and Metallurgy Special Materials. The former can mainly be obtained from ghost ships and improve the chances of honing success by two percent per Lost Ark items, and you can use up to 20 of these at a time.

On the other hand, metallurgy special materials, which are found in the Abyss Dungeons, can be used just once a go, improving your chances by ten percent. Just remember that both of these Lost Ark items will be discarded even if the upgrade process fails.

If the above two aren’t your cup of tea, you might want to put that research department of yours to good use by investing in a honing upgrade. You’ll have to be at least T2 for this, and the upgrade will only apply to the honing process on the tier below. So for example, if you’re at T3, the research will increase your honing chances for T2.

Conclusion

It’s a bit of a never-ending cycle, isn’t it? If you want to access certain activities, you’ll need to upgrade your Lost Ark items. But to get those upgrades, you need to complete other activities first! But that’s what Lost Ark is all about the grind. If you try to find more game currency online, it takes half the fun out of it. So get going; those Lost Ark items aren’t going to upgrade themselves!
