Minecraft Monday: Mob Vote 2023 is Almost Here!

It’s that time of the year again, the mob Vote 2023 is finally here! As per tradition, we Minecraft fans get to vote for one of the available mobs to be added to the game in the following update. After getting new mobs that changed our favorite game for the better, such as the glow squid, allay, and the sniffer, who is the latest addition to Minecraft!
All of the mobs that you can vote for have already been announced: the crab, armadillo, and penguin. We also know when the voting will take place and when the winner will be announced. We’ll go over all the details below, so you know everything there is to know before you cast your vote!
When Is the Mob Vote 2023?
The mob vote 2023 will begin at 1:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, October 13th. From that point on, you will have just over 48 hours to cast your vote, as the voting comes to a close at 1:15 p.m. EDT on Sunday, October 15th. This year we have almost double the time we had last year to cast our votes which I think is awesome!
October 15th is also the day Mojang will host the Minecraft Live Show, where they will announce the winning mob! The Minecraft Live Show is typically also the time Mojang reveals their next major update For Minecraft! So even though we might not find out all the details on that day, we will have a pretty good idea of what will be added to Minecraft with the 1.21 update next year. So don’t forget to tune in to the next Minecraft Monday, as we will surely discuss the news!

- 10:00 a.m. October 13 – 10:15 am October 15 PDT (Los Angeles)
- 1:00 p.m. October 13 – 1:15 pm October 15 EDT (New York)
- 6:00 p.m. October 13 – 6:15 pm October 15 BST (London)
- 7:00 p.m. October 13 – 7:15 pm October 15 CEST (Berlin)
- 3:00 a.m. October 14 – 3:15 am October 16 AEST (Sydney)
Which Mobs Can We Vote For?
Just like in the previous years, during the Mob Vote 2023 we will get to choose between 3 different mob concepts that may be added to Minecraft. This year we are in luck, as they are all actually real-world animals. We will get to choose between penguins, crabs, and armadillos! Everything we know about them, for now, is a little detail about where they will spawn and what they might be used for, but we can expect the winning mob to wind up with additional features and a polished look when Mojang is through with development.
Crab
These little crustaceans will make their home in the Mangrove swamp, and they will have one enormous claw! It will actually have more uses than just waving you hello – if you manage to acquire the claw you will be able to place blocks further away from you!
Armadillo
The armadillo will live in the savannah biome. If you startle the armadillo, it will curl up into a blocky ball to protect itself! When killed, it will also drop a scute that can be used to craft a new type of armor – wolf armor! This will finally give your pet some extra protection.
Penguin
The penguin is a social mob, which you will be able to find waddling around the stony shores biome. They are a little clumsy on land, but they more than makeup for it in the water, as they are amazing swimmers. They will also help you out, as this mob can help your boat travel faster!
Where Can I Vote For My Mob?
Just like last year, there are multiple ways of voting for your favorite mob during the Mob Vote 2023. You can head on to Minecraft.net and sign in to vote, or just load up your Minecraft Launcher and vote before you turn on the game. There will also be a specially designed server opened and available in the menu, so you get to vote from within the game too!
Final Thoughts
This is one of those years when I wish Mojang would actually add all 3 of the available mobs to the game. Every one of them could have a special place in the game and I really don’t want to lose the chance to see either one of them in Minecraft. Even though the bonuses penguins would give are already available with dolphins, I am definitely voting for the penguins, as they are my favorite animals! I guess those commandos from Madagascar really rubbed off on me. But still, I have to admit, the wolf armor addition would be amazing.
