NEW TITLE SPONSER FOR INDIAN CRICKET TEAM

|IDFC FIRST Bank Secures Title Rights for BCCI Home International Series|

Private Bank Acquires Rights at INR 4.2 Crore per Game, Outbids Sony Sports

In a groundbreaking move, Idfc FIRST Bank, a prominent player in India's private banking sector, has successfully clinched the title rights for the prestigious home international cricket series organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Securing Valuable Rights

Reflecting a strategic leap, IDFC FIRST Bank has acquired the coveted title rights for the BCCI's home international series, a pivotal event in the cricketing calendar. With a remarkable financial commitment of INR 4.2 crore per international game, the bank's triumph marks an increase of over 40 lakhs in comparison to the prior value of INR 3.8 crore. The initial bidding threshold was set at INR 2.4 crore.

A Transformative Agreement

This monumental achievement ushers in a new era as IDFC FIRST Bank enters a transformative three-year collaboration with the BCCI, set to commence next month. The partnership will commence with an electrifying three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Australia, laying the foundation for an extensive journey that spans until August 2026. The agreement encompasses an impressive total of 56 international games, projected to yield nearly INR 235 crore for the BCCI.

Outshining Competition

IDFC FIRST Bank's success extends beyond the sports arena, as it triumphed over competitors including Sony Sports, a prominent sports broadcaster that embarked on its first venture into the realm of title sponsorship. Notably, the rigorous bidding process witnessed the exclusive participation of these two entities, with a bid from a corporate agency unfortunately rejected due to technical impediments.

Taking the Mantle

Building on this achievement, IDFC FIRST Bank steps into the shoes of Mastercard, the former title sponsor that subsequently secured a sub-license from Paytm. With both entities previously contributing INR 3.8 crore per game, this transition marks a significant development in cricket sponsorship.

Strategic Value and Favorable Conditions

Despite a modest 12 percent increase in value, the prevailing market landscape imbues this arrangement with strategic significance. It is perceived as a mutually beneficial pact for both the BCCI and the sponsors, given the unique challenges posed by the current corporate participation landscape.

Strategic Bidding Process

A glimpse behind the scenes reveals the intricacies of the bidding process, conducted behind closed doors at an esteemed five-star hotel in South Mumbai on the notable date of August 25. Sony Sports' unexpected participation adds an intriguing dimension, potentially foretelling its role in the upcoming BCCI media rights auction scheduled just a week away, on August 31.

In conclusion, IDFC FIRST Bank's triumph in securing the title rights for the BCCI home international series heralds a dynamic chapter in the world of cricket sponsorship, characterized by strategic maneuvers, financial prowess, and unprecedented anticipation.
