If you love playing games for cash, then you’re probably very familiar with pay-to-play games. There are hundreds on the market, especially with online side hustles becoming increasingly popular in recent years.

Today, we’ll compare two very popular pay-to-play free apps, Rewarded Play and Mistplay. If you’re not into the pay-to-play gaming scene and stumbled upon this article because you were looking for new ways to make extra cash, we’ve got you! Both Mistplay and Rewarded Play are apps that allow you to play mobile games through their interface, and in turn, you get rewarded with cash prizes and gift cards.

But which app allows you to win more? Is one better than the other? We will cover all that and more in this Rewarded Play vs. Mistplay comparison, including the pros and cons, how each app works, and how to determine which one is right for you.

So without further ado, let’s get straight into the review!

Rewarded Play vs. Mistplay Overview

The main differences between Rewarded Play and Mistplay involve the specific games you can play and the reward options offered. Both apps offer an excellent selection of games, but Rewarded Play offers slightly more to choose from.

In terms of rewards, Mistplay offers Visa and Mastercard, plus a selection of store gift cards. Rewarded Play doesn’t offer Visa or Mastercard, but does have a slightly larger selection of store gift cards.

The other significant difference is that Rewarded Play is only available in two countries (United States and Canada), while Mistplay is available in the United States, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.

What Is Rewarded Play?

Rewarded Play is an Android-exclusive app (not available for iOS in the App Store) and alternative to Mistplay. It rewards users for playing third-party games, like Scrabble, through their platform. Rewarded Play will pay you to play, and rewards include cash and gift cards to popular stores like Amazon and Starbucks.

With over 10 million downloads, 141K reviews on the Google Play Store, and a rating of 4.3/5, it’s safe to say Rewarded Play is a very popular app that’s well-liked by the public.

Rewarded Play was created in 2019 by Daniel Todd and Gabe Coyne of Influence Mobile, Inc., a digital media firm based out of Seattle. Their goal in creating Rewarded Play was to create the most extensive rewards program on the market. The app was their first big launch, and it has gone pretty well for them so far.

Rewarded Play is very easy to use. All you need to do is download and install the app, sign up, and start playing! When signing up, they’ll ask you to provide a few personal details, including your gender and age. They ask you these questions to show you apps that they think you are more likely to enjoy.

After you do that, you will be shown a bunch of different games that you can download through their app, like bingo, matching, world-building, puzzles, classic card games, and even casino games like slots.

Some games are individual, and others will make you go head-to-head with other real-life players. Users will earn points for time spent playing each game, and the amount of points varies depending on the game. Players earn points within the games, which they can exchange for extra moves or power-ups. Moreover, through the Rewarded Play app, these points contribute towards earning gift cards.

To maximize points, users need to invest a certain amount of time playing each game and reach specific level milestones. In some cases, in-app purchases may be necessary to unlock additional points.

What is Mistplay?

Mistplay is a gaming app (also only available for Android), very similar to Rewarded Play, that pays you for the time you spend playing their arcade games on your phone. It’s available on all Android devices and is considered a bit of a hidden gem in the gaming world.

Mistplay was created in 2015 by CEO Henri-Charles Machalani and co-founder and COO Eugene Joannides, who joined Henri in 2016. Since its launch in 2015, Mistplay has rewarded users worldwide with over $24 million.

The app has been downloaded over 10 million times, and millions of users are currently earning rewards by playing Mistplay’s games. Best of all, it’s completely free to download and doesn’t require any in-app purchases or deposits. You can easily get the Mistplay app for free on any Android device. Just keep in mind that you need to be at least 14 years old since the app is rated T for teens.

Mistplay personalizes your game library based on your preferences, offering you new games to explore daily. With your customized Mixlist, you’ll discover games you love every single day with this app that pays. Mistplay offers an extensive selection of games from various mobile gaming genres, including casual games, slots, and saga games. You can try something entirely new or enjoy classics like Yahtzee, Poker, or Words with Friends.

Similar to Rewarded Play, to get started, simply download the Mistplay app, sign up, provide your age and gender, and choose from the different games offered on the app to download and play.

You will then be rewarded for time spent playing each game, with reward amounts varying by game.

Rewarded Play vs. Mistplay: Head-to-Head Comparison

In order to determine which app is better, it’s essential to compare the key features of each one. This includes types of games, available rewards, earning potential, usability and design, and finally, eligibility.

Types of Games

The types of games offered in each app are arguably one of the most important factors to determine. After all, if you don’t like the game selection, then you probably won’t spend any actual time playing them!

Lucky enough, both these apps have a huge variety of games to choose from. With either of them, you’ll most likely find something to enjoy, but there may be certain genres will appeal to you more.

Rewarded Play

Rewarded Play offers a significant advantage with its vast selection of downloadable games, providing hundreds of options to play and earn rewards.

Some popular games available on Rewarded Play include (keep in mind, the available games can change from time to time):

  • Bingo Blitz
  • Yahtzee
  • Wheel of Fortune
  • Mystery Society
  • World Series Poker
  • Harry Potter
  • Mahjong
  • Word Alchemy
  • Pirate Kings
  • Cookie Jam Blast
  • Sudoku

The app excels in three popular genres: casino-style games, puzzles, and strategy games. Moreover, Rewarded Play consistently introduces fresh games, ensuring there’s always something new to explore and enjoy.

Mistplay

Like Rewarded Play, Mistplay has a bunch of different games available on their app. However, something that’s important to note with Mistplay is that the games they offer depend on where you are in the world. Some games are only offered in specific regions, so just keep that in mind!

Some popular games currently available on Mistplay include:

  • Solitaire Cube
  • Bubble Cash
  • Solitaire Cash
  • Pool Payday
  • Yahtzee
  • Rise of Kingdoms
  • Raid: Shadow Legends
  • Scrabble
  • Family Farm

Again, the genres you receive will depend on where you live, so I recommend checking them out yourself to see what’s available. And like Rewarded Play, the games available on Mistplay will change at times.

In general, most styles include strategy, tycoon, or puzzle games.

Winner: Both apps are pretty equal, but Rewarded Play has a slight edge over Mistplay in the games available. Which app is better for you depends on what games you want to play.

Available Rewards

Neither Mistplay nor Rewarded Play offer PayPal cash or direct deposit for rewards. If you want to earn money, you might want to consider using GPT sites and survey websites like Swagbucks or MyPoints instead.

However, both of these apps do provide a wide variety of free gift cards to choose from.

Rewarded Play

For Rewarded Play, some free gift cards you can redeem include Amazon, Best Buy, Target, eBay, Nordstrom, Walmart, Gap, Adidas, Sephora, Chili’s, and Macy’s.

It’s important to note that the available gift cards may change, but you can usually find gift cards from popular retailers like Amazon, which make for great prizes based on my experience.

Mistplay

As for Mistplay, you can redeem free gift cards like Amazon, Prepaid Visa or Mastercard cards, Best Buy, Cineplex, Google Play Store, Roblox, iTunes, and Uber Eats.

Winner: If you’re looking for more gift card options, Rewarded Play is the better choice. On the other hand, if you prefer cash rewards, Mistplay is the better option, as it offers prepaid Visa and Mastercard cards.

For more options, see this list of Android games that pay real money.

Earning Potential

I’m sure this is the part that you’ve all been waiting for. Which app will pay more? Because both of these apps function similarly, the earning potential will be in the same range as well. But let’s get into exactly how much each app pays per hour.

Rewarded Play

The amount you can earn with Rewarded Play depends on the games you play and the time you spend on the platform.

To get a $5 gift card from various retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Target, Best Buy, and restaurants, you need to accumulate 45,000 points. Earning more points will increase the gift card amount.

Many games have in-app purchases that can help you earn more points in the game and on Rewarded Play. While you can earn enough points for a gift card without making in-app purchases, it might take longer or result in earning less than you could otherwise.

You can also earn points by watching ads, playing certain games for a specific time, and completing daily activities for bonus points. Each game will show you the total points you can earn and what you need to do to achieve them.

As you reach higher levels in games, earning points and payouts may become harder. There is also a daily earnings cap of 5,000 points for some activities. Depending on how much you play, it may take a few days or weeks to earn enough for a gift card.

To maximize your earnings, you’ll need to play various games rather than just playing the same game all the time.

When you have at least 45,000 points and are ready to cash out, select the gift card you want and verify your account identity by adding your phone number. You’ll receive a gift card code through a push notification on your phone, which you can redeem with the retailer. In most cases, Rewarded Play sends gift card codes within 24 hours of being redeemed on the platform.

Mistplay

When it comes to earning rewards on Mistplay, there is no set amount that each person will earn. The amount of rewards depends on the games played.

For a quick refresh on how Mistplay works, you can earn points called units, which can be exchanged for gift cards from stores like Amazon, Spotify, Starbucks, and prepaid cards like Visa or Mastercard. You can also get cash via PayPal. To earn units, you can play free games in your library, reach milestones in games to level up your profile, refer friends, and more.

However, there are limits to how many units you can earn. You can only earn units for up to two hours of gameplay per game each day. Also, once you reach level 20 for a specific game on Mistplay, you won’t earn more units for that game. So, like Rewarded Play, Mistplay incentivizes users to play a variety of games.

Mistplay doesn’t disclose the exact time it takes to earn units while playing games, but you can refer friends to earn 100 units for each friend who plays a game up to level four.

These 100 units are worth around 12 cents if you redeem them for the smallest Amazon gift card. As an example, to get the lowest-level redemption of a $0.50 Amazon gift card, you’ll need to earn at least 400 Units. So, Mistplay isn’t going to change your life financially or let you quit your day job, but it is a great way to boost your income by a couple of dollars a week while simultaneously playing fun games.

Winner: Both apps have around the same earning potential.

Usability and Design

Now, let’s compare the usability and design of each app. When we say usability and design, we mean how easy it is to use the app, and how enjoyable the experience of using it is. Again, both apps will be similar in this regard.

Rewarded Play

Rewarded Play is designed to be user-friendly and easy to use. It has a very simple interface that lets you access games and rewards without extra hassle.

The app has an organized layout that makes finding your favorite games and gift card options simple. Plus, with regular updates and new game additions, you’ll always have something fun to explore.

Overall, Rewarded Play is a straightforward and enjoyable platform for earning rewards while playing games.

Mistplay

Mistplay is the same as Rewarded Play in this regard, with an easy-to-access interface, and a straightforward navigation system that allows you to access games, earn rewards, and cash out effortlessly.

Winner: Both Mistplay and Rewarded Play are winners in this category.

Eligibility

If you live in a country that supports only one of these apps, you can start earning right away without considering the other.

Rewarded Play

Currently, Rewarded Play is available only in the United States and Canada. However, it recently expanded to Canada, showing its progress over time.

Mistplay

On the other hand, Mistplay is available in 10+ countries, including the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. If your country isn’t on this list, you’ll need to explore other online money-making options.

Winner: Mistplay is available in many more countries compared to Rewarded Play.

Cons

  • Low Earning Potential: Mistplay’s earning potential might be limited, making it difficult to earn substantial rewards.
  • Diminished Rewards as You Level Up: As you progress to higher levels in games, the rewards you earn through Mistplay may decrease.
  • Fewer Gift Card Options: Mistplay offers fewer gift card rewards compared to Rewarded Play, limiting the variety of redemption options available.

Rewarded Play vs. Mistplay: Final Thoughts

Overall, when comparing Rewarded Play vs. Mistplay, both are legit and are great options for Android users due to their similarity.

In terms of game variety, Rewarded Play is a slightly better option. However, if you want to earn Visa gift cards instead of mostly gift cards to stores, then Mistplay is better.

Mistplay also is available in more countries, so if you’re in a place where Rewarded Play is not offered, you have to go with Mistplay regardless. It really comes down to what you’re looking for in an app and what suits your needs best. Either way, you can’t go wrong!
