Is The Endgame Gear XM1 Worth It In 2022?

It’s all about finding the Mouse that helps you reach your potential. The Endgame Gear XM1 gaming mouse is not anymore like it was before. It has improved in multiple ways:

  • An extremely lightweight cable
  • A better coat to reduce fingerprints
  • Firmer buttons
  • Improved firmware

It’s the first mouse of Endgame Gear, and that’s simply amazing because they did a very good job with the Endgame XM1. But is it still a good choice to buy in 2022? We will find out!

What Makes The Endgame Gear XM1 Special?

Even though this mouse is marketed with things such as ‘’it has less than 1ms patented analog technology’’ and ‘’it has a top optical sensor’’, this is not what truly makes the Endgame Gear XM1 special. So, what does? First of all, this mouse is very well shaped with an extraordinary slim center, and buttons close to where you rest your fingers. These buttons are even closer to your fingers than popular mice like the Razer Deathadder or Logitech G Pro, for example. The closer these buttons are, the more stability it gives.

You can compare this with writing with a giant pen vs a small pen. Which one writes better? Exactly.

Grip width is very important for a gaming mouse. And the grip width (the middle) of the Endgame XM1 is only about 5.6cm. For a mouse in the medium to a large-size category, this is quite thin! The top of the mouse is a bit wider, but this gives you a combination of better aim and better comfort (at the top). Note that the Endgame Gear XM1 is a low mouse, meaning that it suits you well if you use a fingertip grip or claw grip. Yeah, people even have their own way of holding a mouse, lol.

Also, this mouse is exceptionally lightweight for a mouse that doesn’t have ‘’holes’’ in it. A lot of businesses decided to create a ‘’honeycomb design’’ to reduce the weight. But the Endgame Gear XM1 doesn’t have that – and it’s only a 70-gram mouse!

More Benefits of the Endgame Gear XM1

You will have a pretty well grip on this mouse, and it feels smooth at the same time. The improved and extremely soft cable The Endgame Gear XM1 has now is much better than the previous one. It feels like playing with a wireless mouse. Nowadays, ‘’normal’’ cables are very old school. Why use a regular, heavier cable when you could use a soft, lightweight cable to give you almost no resistance? You can tell that you almost won’t feel the difference between a wireless or wired mouse anymore.

Furthermore, it seems that Endgame Gear listens to its community, as it continually strives to improve its products based on what the community wants. This is a great thing to see. People were complaining about the fingerprints they saw on the mouse: well, they now have a new coating called Dry Grip Coating that helps to prevent this (and it helps with sweat, too)! Besides, it seems they have put more attention towards the side buttons as well. They feel firmer than they were before. Furthermore, they added fancy RGB and other color versions of the Endgame XM1 as well!

You don’t necessarily need to use software for the Endgame Gear XM1, as the mouse has a button on the base where you can change the polling rate and DPI. You’ll only need the software when you want to choose custom DPI’s and store them in your mouse’s onboard memory, control RGB lighting, or reassign additional keys. Endgame Gear also improved its firmware to solve possible issues with this mouse.

Is The Endgame Gear XM1 Worth Buying in 2022?

I will answer this question with a yes, the Endgame Gear XM1 is absolutely worth buying in 2022. It now belongs at the top of the best gaming mice out there. The mouse was already very good at release (despite the issues that are now fixed), but now Endgame Gear has also improved this mouse in many ways.

The mouse seems underrated nowadays and it truly deserves some love. Do you play games where the aim is important? Then it could be interesting to try this out and see how well you aim. This mouse could become one of your mainstream mice.

Endgame Gear XM1 Review

Now we’re going to dive a little bit deeper, to give you some more information about why this could be a great mouse for you. As you read before, this wired mouse has claimed a well-deserved position in the medium to large category. Despite this size, it is extremely well shaped and it has something special about this shape. It goes a little wider on top: 6.1cm, smaller in the middle: 5.6cm, and wider on the bottom: 6.3cm. The shape looks a little bit like the one from Steelseries Sensei, but then it’s smaller in the center.

The mouse is about 12cm long, and with the center being at 6cm the grip width is perfectly located in the middle. And the grip width is what’s usually most important of a gaming mouse. The Endgame Gear XM1 has a total of 5 buttons and a dedicated profile switch, all very closely located to where your fingers rest (which is important for being fast in-game). All components are high-quality, and you can tell this by the Kailh GM 4.0 switches: which are consistent, snappy, light to press, and prevent double-clicking.

Furthermore, this mouse is lower compared to the first-class gaming mice. So it’s not a mouse ‘’just like the others but cheaper’’, no, this mouse is extremely different than the rest and it could give you the advantage that you need. And it only weighs about 70g without any holes in it (like a honeycomb design that a lot of businesses use nowadays to cut off some of the weight).

Endgame Gear truly listens to its community. The new Dry Grip coating reduces fingerprints, the new cable is extremely lightweight, and the firmware has improved massively.

Different Models

Another sign of constant improvement is that they released multiple versions of this mouse. At first, there were only 2 versions of Endgame XM1: black and white. But now, you can choose:

  • XM1r Dark Reflex
  • XM1r Dark Frost
  • XM1r Black
  • XM1r White
  • XM1 RGB Dark Reflex
  • XM1 RGB Dark Frost
  • XM1 RGB Black
  • XM1r RGB White

So as you can see, plenty of choices nowadays! The mouse looks good and you can truly see the competitive edge on the shape. It's low, it's very slim in the middle, it's still comfortable as it's not a small mouse and more benefits.

Patented Analogue Technology & Glide Like Blades On Ice!

I don’t want to forget to mention that the Endgame Gear XM1 uses patented analog technology. This keeps the internal signal processing latency of the buttons below 1ms! What does this give you? Well, unprecedentedly fast clicking speed. And to give you even more precision: this mouse comes with large and noiseless (99.5%) PTFE skates so our mouse will glide like blades on ice. It enables fast movement and high precision, as it reduces frictional resistance.

And if you're wondering where PTFE stands for Polytetrafluoroethylene. Can you pronounce that? Anyway, it’s a synthetic polymer that’s known for its low coefficient of friction.

Why the Endgame Gear XM1 is Underrated

Besides all the things I mentioned earlier about how Endgame Gear listened to its community, I want to highlight the main reasons why this mouse is underrated. This is because when this mouse was launched into production, Endgame Gear didn't realize that some copies has double-clicking issues. As a result, many negative reviews were thrown on the internet. But nowadays, the software and firmware are massively improved, meaning it could solve all these weird problems.

To this day, Endgame Gear keeps improving its software and firmware. I love to see how they, besides noticing what the gaming community wants, actively strive to improve their mice in any sort of way. Endgame ironed out all the rough edges for the Endgame Gear XM1: and with success. For example: a new sensor, new switches, and more. They also want the mouse to have long durability as it is designed for up to 60 million clicks.

Endgame Gear wants to make sure that every gamer’s dreams may come to fruition. They believe that remarkable gaming achievements are possible through proper gear, which can turn defeat into victory in any gamer’s career. Small changes can yield fundamental results. And they ask you: why let sub-par technology stand in your way?

Endgame Gear XM1 Software

The Endgame Gear XM1 has very simple software that’s easy to use. You can download it here on their website. You’ll only need this software to create custom DPI’s and store it in your mouse’s onboard memory, to change the RGB, or to reassign the additional keys. The mouse can shine in 16.7 million colors!

On the mouse itself, you can adjust the polling rate (250Hz to 1000Hz) and DPI levels. You can do this with the square button located below the optical sensor. By the way, this sensor is the PixArt PMW3389 optical sensor which is a very responsive sensor that most high-end gaming mice use.

Pro's &Cons

Now you know a lot more about the Endgame Gear XM1, let’s sum up all the pros and cons so you can make the best decision to buy it. The black (non-RGB) version currently costs about $77 on Amazon which also makes it good value for money.
