Family First

“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.” – Jane Howard

Family is everything to us here at Cassino. Our business was founded by our grandparents, handed down to our parents and subsequently to the third-generation. We remain a close and loving bunch.

But for some people it’s not that simple; their ‘family’ is comprised of people that they might not be blood-related to – friends who are absolutely their tribe nevertheless. But so what? As the saying goes, Families come in all shapes and sizes.

But however your family is made up (as a point of interest, according to The Office for National Statistics there are almost 19.4 million families in the UK today), we know that having fun and spending quality time with them is how treasured memories are made. We welcome lots of ‘families’ at Cassino, especially in summertime, and watching them enjoy themselves; playing games and bantering, is one of our great pleasures.

Obviously we can’t (and don’t) allow children in our venues, but for those adult family groups (or those who are enjoying a few youngster-free hours), Cassino offers a wonderfully light-hearted and welcoming environment in which to while away some happy holiday down-time.

“You go through life wondering what is it all about, but at the end of the day it’s all about family.” – Sir Rod Stewart

And a recent hospitality poll reveals some interesting facts about family holidays. Evidently 37% of Brits say that they haven’t fully used their annual leave from work since before the pandemic, while 77% of those polled said spending time with their family is now the most important thing to them post-pandemic.

We couldn’t agree more. And that’s why it is not only important that we welcome families, but that our team members feel like part of our family too. Most of them have been with us since forever and so they genuinely feel very much like part of the family to us.

And finally, we recently discovered that some of the strangest things ever left behind in hotel rooms when holiday makers check out have a family theme. As well as an entire gingerbread biscuit family, other family-focused lost property includes an urn containing a grandfather’s ashes and a vast family photo album dating back to the 1930s.

But from our clan to yours, we hope to welcome you Cassino very soon. And as in all the best families, the kettle’s always on.
