Action247 Same-Game Parlay for April 27, 2023

You know, you can consistently hand-wave issues with premises like “when this team is healthy” or by solely judging them by their playoff performances.

We’ve spent the entire season dispelling notions that the Colorado Avalanche were in trouble. After last night, the defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche find themselves in deep trouble, having lost 3-2 to the Seattle Kraken.

Maybe the rumors of the Avs’ demise weren’t greatly exaggerated; maybe they were spot on.

Nonetheless, we continued our season-long support of the Avs’, picking Colorado to win as the home favorite, and had our faith in Colorado repaid with another parlay loss.

As for yesterday’s other picks, we successfully picked the Golden State Warriors to get a rare win on the road over the Sacramento Kings 123-116 and for the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies to hit the under again, which they did by 7.5 points.

Thanks to our arch-nemesis from the deep, dark Pudget Sound (the Seattle Kraken), our weekly parlay record drops to 0-4, while we improve to 4-8 on individual picks.

With only four NBA or NHL playoff games to choose from, we have limited options for Thursday’s same-game parlay. We’re heading back to the ice and the pursuit of Lord Stanley’s Cup.

Vegas Golden Knights over Winnipeg Jets (-189)

Goodbye, Winnipeg. Your season and playoff hopes looked very promising in January. So long and fair thee well.

First, the effect of Josh Morrisey’s injury cannot be underestimated in its effect on the Jets and their style of play. Further to that point, the potential return of Nikolaj Ehlers isn’t going to turn the Jets’ fortunes around either.

Second, VGK holds a 3-1 series lead and a 5-2 edge in the season series.

The road team might be 4-1 in the five previous head-to-head meetings, but the Jets are 1-6 in the last seven.

Yeah, we’re taking the Golden Knights to win game five over the Winnipeg Jets, eliminating the Jets from the playoffs.

Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 over Winnipeg Jets (+130)

Vegas has a 45-51 ats record, while Winnipeg is 43-43 ats this season.

Three of the four first-round meetings have ended with at least a 1.5-goal spread, while four of the seven head-to-head matchups in 2022-23 have ended with at least a 1.5-goal spread.

Vegas has won by a 1.5-goal spread in three of their five wins against the Jets this season.
We’re taking Vegas to cover the spread while eliminating Winnipeg from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Winnipeg Jets vs Vegas Golden Knights Over 5.5 (-130)

The Jets have a 29-52-5 over/under record, while the Golden Knights have a 40-41-5 over/under record.

All four playoff games have hit the over, while the Jets and Golden Knights have combined for a 5-1-1 over/under record in seven head-to-head matchups this season.

Connor Hellebuyck is the only reason this game might not hit the over, but we fear a one-goalie crusade won’t be enough to stop this game from hitting the over or save the Jets’ season.
