Ocean Life and Sea Animals
- Scientists estimate that there are about one million species of animals in the ocean.
- 95 percent have no backbone – they are invertebrates.
- The most common animal with a backbone (that´s a vertebrate) on Earth is the bristlemouth – a tiny ocean fish that glows in the dark.
- Sea animals like zooplankton are so small, that you can see them only with a microscope.
- The ocean is also the home of bis fish, such as great white sharks, manta rays and ocean sunfish.
