Valheim’s New Update Adds Hard Mode, A New Vendor, and Other Community Requested Additions

The ever-so-popular Viking survival game, Valheim, is getting a fancy clerk and tough conditions for players to conquer.

A Nordic survival game made by Iron Gate Studio, Valheim, got updated with a new patch recently. Called Hildir’s Quest, this update includes some neat additions to personalize your character and a new difficulty setting to keep yourself tied to your seat. As usual, there are some stability and optimization fixes to get rid of pesky bugs too. The story behind this update revolves around the clothes shop owner, Hildir, who can provide new clothes, weapons, and gadgets to personalize your home.

Hildir is also capable of selling you necessary items for you to build a barbershop. In this way, you can earn money through your store and even change your appearance with newly added hairstyles. Although these additions are free, you need to finish Hildir’s Request through your objective book to unlock newly added content.

What is available from the get-go though is the new difficulty settings. Players can now change the difficulty of their session from easy to normal to hard. Changing the difficulty does not completely invalidate your Gameplay either, so players can tweak the gameplay to their desired difficulty at any given time without losing progress.

There are obvious differences in the difficulty settings. While easy is more light-hearted and kind in terms of gameplay, it’s suited for players who opt for the pacifist run of their characters. In hard mode, you can expect to be in dire situations all the time. The hard game setting ramps up the damage of enemies while rising their health pool, so you might expect the enemies to be a bit spongy when it comes to combat, however, if you are prepared to fight in an unexpected time, you should be able to stand your ground without no fear.

Valheim was released back in 2021 with very unexpected in-favor reviews by the community. It was the time when craft and survival games were pretty much the norm of the gaming industry, however, Valheim had its charm to catch the interest of players. With its smooth gameplay and cute art style, it was one of the go-to comfy and cozy survival games besides Minecraft and others. Since then, Valheim has received two major updates to its name, expanding its universe and adding game mechanics to enhance its gameplay. Valheim is available on both PC and Xbox platforms and it’s worthy of a look if you are into survival and crafting games.
