Dragon Age 4 Is “In Production” Says Bioware

The next installment in one of BioWares most iconic series Dragon Age is in the midst of development.

It has been almost eight years since the release of BioWares last Dragon Age title in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Fans of the series have been salivating over any amount of details revealed about the next game in the popular series. In a recent blog post, BioWare addressed some of the concerns that many players may be feeling at this time.

Fans who are awaiting the next installment will be happy to know that the BioWare developers have already hit the production stage and are building out their vision: “creating amazing environments, deep characters, strong gameplay, impactful writing, emotional cinematics – and much more”. This will all sound like a familiar scenario for fans of BioWare as each of those things are what makes their games particularly special.

In addition to this after a recent string of veteran developers leaving BioWare including; the now, Former Creative Director Matt Goldman, fans may have been tentative about the direction that the next game in the series is heading. However, fans should not worry as the entire development team is helmed by major BioWare veterans.

These veterans include: Production Designer Mac Walters who many may know from being a writer on many of the Mass Effect Games, Corinne Busche, a BioWare veteran of 15 years, has been named the game director on Dragon Age 4 and beyond that John Epler, another BioWare veteran, is the creative director on the project, so overall the game is in excellent hands from the design teams, to art and more, Dragon Age 4 seems secure.

This all comes after 2 years ago when at the game awards BioWare revealed a short cinematic trailer showing Solas, a companion from Dragon Age: Inquisition post his “Dark side” turn. Whilst this was anticipated considering the final dlc for Dragon Age: Inquisition it was still a good thing to see it 100% confirmed. The cinematic trailer also proves a return for Brian Bloom’s famous character Varric Tethras, where this will be the third consecutive Dragon Age in which he will appear.

Here’s in the cinematic trailer:

The trailer is happily confirming to players that they are a “nobody” a common RPG trope that truly allows players to immerse themselves in the world of Dragon Age.

Dragon Age 4 does not have a release date as of yet. Information has been abound that the game may release sometime in 2023, but there is currently no confirmation on that as of yet and so far is nothing more than a hopeful rumour.

Until then, fans of BioWare may be happy to learn that the latest Star Wars: The Old Republic dlc Legacy of The Sith has released celebrating 10 years since the games official release.
